ive had to fix mine twice:
once it was the condenser fan motor (pain to get to, but easy to change)
recently i had to change the bin thermistor which tells the unit when to quit making ice, mine would overfill (very simple fix)
edit:
this is a very long webpage but it was full of helpful info if you are a confident DIYer
i also emailed the guy who wrote all of this and he helped me diagnose some things

It is brand new, whirlpool model GI15NDXZB0. We had one for 10 years, I was able to fix most of the issues I had with that one, it finally went out, narrowed its issue to the hot gas valve. We found a clearance deal on this one, ran one clean cycle and now it will not make ice. It pumps water, the coil is cool, but not making ice. Before I ran the clean cycle, this ice was falling out the door. I would clean my prior one regulary no issues; this one the clean cycle light came on so I ran it. Hasn't made ice since. I have left it unplugged, cleaned it, blew out the coils, and checked all the pumps. I am not sure, but it looks like the pump is constantly running. This one has a diagnostic mode, and I have the chart for it, the lights blink as it goes through the different modes. My issue is it blinks through multiple modes. It was working great, so I would guess that it isn't something major. I have done a ton of research, no youtube repair videos for this model specifically.

is the chiller plate cool or cold?
after cleaning, mine quit working and the plate would get cool, but not really cool enough to form ice
like i mentioned earlier, mine ended up being the condenser fan which wasn't moving enough air over the coils for proper heat exchange
check and see if your fan is pushing air over the coils when it's running

I used him before, it is beyond his scope. He kept my microwave drawer for three months.
