As far as this nonsense about how the onus shouldn't be on her. You're goddamned right the onus should be on her! She's accusing him of something that could be a potential life felony. If our criminal justice system means anything, the onus should be squarely on her.

Always amazes me that the ones that advocate for women's issues have such low opinions of women. In their patronizing view, women are such emotionally fragile or underdeveloped little creatures that we couldn't dare make them answer questions of an incident that may take the freedoms away from another individual. So don't dare ask. If you do, you're just a mysoginistic cretin.

WTF are you ranting about? He'll have his day in court.

Do we? What did he admit to? Did you hear it or read the transcript of the confession? "I'm sorry you didn't have a great time" or "I'm sorry you weren't into me as much as I was into you" is a far cry from "I am sorry I raped you" Or having her say on a controlled call, "You raped me!" and he respond, "I'm sorry you feel this way" Who is making the claim he confessed?

Nobody is arguing that it isn't her responsibility to prove he raped her.

Brah....the only evidence we have is what was released by the arresting agency.
Which includes screenshots of him apologizing for raping her and asking her not to report it.

Selected screenshots.

ETA: And that's their interpretation of the conversation. He may have raped her, but the whole screenshot thing isn't exactly a slam dunk especially since we don't have the whole conversation.

Would there be other texts that make those irrelevant?

"Why didn't you leave?" "He held me at knife point"

Search warrant for suspect's living quarters requested. Evidence obtained. Case strengthened.

"Why didn't you leave?" "The movie wasn't over"

Reasonable doubt creeps in. Case weakened.

Have any of you conducted a criminal investigation/interrogation??? You just take her word for it at face value? Y'all would have been a prosecutor's wet dream at Salem.

I'd say texts from him apologizing and asking her to not report are pretty damning

An innocent person doesn't do that when accused of rape

Holy shite you're an idiot. You think she stayed and got raped because a movie wasn't over?

There are so many of these its easy to say the girl is drunk and has regrets the next day.... but with the text they say they have, it sure sounds like this is legit and that pos dude deserves to be punished

I'm taking his word actually. Which is the only reason I think this is pretty straight forward.

Not irrelevant, but it could change the context/meaning.

Girl: "You raped me."

Guy: "No, I didn't."

Girl: "I told you to stop."

Guy: "No, you didn't, and you kept going."

Girl: "I'm really uncomfortable about this."

Guy: "I'm sorry you feel that way."

Girl: "I think I need to report it."

Guy: "What?! Why?!"

Girl: "Because I think you raped me."

Guy: "I'm sorry you feel that way, but I didn't. Please don't ruin my life."

So, you have: discussed the rape, apologized, asked for it to not be reported.

Now, it could very well be a slam dunk rape. Just throwing out other possibilities.

How many times on the OT are the roles reversed? Where the girl sounds like a liar and everyone bashes her for 20 pages without ever knowing "the whole conversation"? Do you come in here defending her?

So we're investigating the case on TigerDroppings?

2nd degree rape:

quote:

(1) When the victim is prevented from resisting the act by force or threats of physical violence under circumstances where the victim reasonably believes that such resistance would not prevent the rape

The charge is pretty clear, no?

I just can't think of any scenario where, when presented with a rape accusation, where I would apologize and tell her to not report it

talk about condemning yourself

Maybe you should go through my post history if it bothers you so much. Shouldn't take you that long. I barely have 80k posts.
