She's making a decent argument in a retarded way. If you want to see a good version of the argument, look up Sam Harris.
I can see the point that mental illness should be treated, and we should try to help these people become productive members of society, but at some point violent nut jobs are just that, violent nut jobs. Spending massive resources on people that are too far gone is absolutely asinine. It truly does suck that some people grow up with issues. I have had some pretty traumatic shite happen in my life, and luckily could lean on my parents to help get me through, but unfortunately we can't force parents to be good parents. Other than help make the world a better place, and save the ones you can, I don't know what else we can do.
