I'm surprised they can smell anything over the stench of the neighborhood surrounded UofH campus.

Told the same to a fresh off the boat Indian guy I worked with. He was appreciative as he had no idea he stunk because they don't use deodorant over there. The prof is doing these students a favor but sjws are going to attack him for being "racist."

The funny thing is, the people getting mad are probably not Indians or any other SE Asian, but some white people trying to “protect” minorities.

I like how its disrespectful if americans dont conform to other cultures, but for some reason asking someone to conform to american culture is offensive.

Its such bullshite.

Respect whichever culture you are living in. And part of american culture is not going around smelling like shite

I spent 4 years in grad school being pretty much the only American in my research group. This professor is 100% dead nuts accurate.

God the smells are awful. I used to brew the strongest coffee I could find and just leave it on all day. I HATE coffee.

Was the same in engineering when I was at LSU, especially after sophomore year

Smelliest kid I ever coached was an Indian. When that little fricker sweated he smelled repulsive. Nice kid though and very smart. He got an academic scholarship to Northwestern which is not an easy thing to do.

It's not the breath. When they sweat that smell just oozes out of their pores.

I have no issues with what he said

But he probably didn't do himself any favors by specifically calling out Indians

Here's the thing though - if these people want to work in America after they finish their schooling, this is advice that will be very valuable to them.

if you had to move to india for work, would you start wearing sheets for clothes, brown sandals only, let your feet get ashy and cracky, and stop bathing in order to fit in over there?

i'm guessing you would not.

Tell your wife to bring plenty of toilet paper because many stores in India do not carry it. This is the culture that uses their bare hand to wipe themselves after taking a dump.

Back when I was in college, I had a class with an Indian (dot) chick who had a chemistry class the previous hour. Holy beJesus, what an aroma. Everybody in class was always early to get the furtherist seat away. I cringe now just thinking about it. It was worst than anything I have ever smelled.
By the way, they don’t need deodorant, they need to bath/shower more often !

You have no clue what you're talking about

In India that would only be a celebratory outfit or possibly during a wedding.
