Because of the human rights we have in the constitution. Until you’ve been a professional driver you could never know how bad we’re being violated

I thought welding paid you well enough to not have to be a liberal Uber driver.

Yea I wouldn’t touch those stocks besides an IPO day flip
one of them is going to be a great investment long term ride sharing isn't going away. Investing in both wouldn't be a bad play.

LOL. no retail investor is going to get their hands on UBER at IPO price. Expect it to be trading like 50% above the price target they'll set today or tomorrow when it starts trading on Friday.

If there are broad numbers of people who are impacted by this stirke, perhaps the drivers are more valuable than what they are paid.
Yeah, let the free market decide.
But in the end, unless they become unionized ( ) , it's going to be hard to get this organized very well to where it hurts these companies.

I did some uber driving when it first started in Baton Rouge. For the first 18 months it was very profitable, even considering wear and tear on my vehicle. On football game nights I could make $2000 after taxes and vehicle costs. Then more and more drivers came and rates were cut and cut again, and what had been a $70 an hour venture was becoming a $12 an hour venture.

Any driver who could do math dropped out, and the quality of the service declined greatly.

But... these "strikes" were the best days to drive because there were fewer drivers and more surges.

Good luck to the uber/lyft drivers losing money right now. I wish there was a way to see who they are, I'd refuse rides from them once they start driving again.

that the million dollar question. The sector is here to say. Best bet is to invest in both so you don't have to guess. But of course that would limit your upside.
Right now, edge goes to Uber due to market share and their IPO filing looked much better than Lyft's. But Lyft is tapping into some interesting new markets.

Lyft is a better product most of the time, but Uber pays less so they make more and will likely win out.

Sounds like a good opportunity to rack up some high fares.

There's a bunch of available cars near me right now. I guess not everyone is participating

It's meant to be a side hustle for people already working full time or for retired people to earn extra cash.

People doing it full time are basically just cab drivers. They won't get rich doing that.

I can report that the Uber I took in Baton Rouge this morning was not on strike. There was no surge pricing either.

Probably the only people participating are the ones that think Uber is supposed to be a full time job and not a side hustle. Or cabbies who started driving Uber instead.
