The OT hates teachers, and I'd bet you lunch that about 35% of the OT would vote to dissolve public education if put on a ballot.

Key proposals from the union have included 40% hourly pay increases, a reduced 32-hour work week, a shift back to traditional pensions, the elimination of compensation tiers and a restoration of cost-of-living adjustments (COLA), among other items on the table including enhanced retiree benefits and enhanced vacation and family leave benefits.

I’d vote to abolish the department of education and to also give teachers (not administrators) who worked 100% of the school year a nice fat tax break

First day of negotiation should be this:

Automaker CEOs: "We have good news. We're going to meet your demands almost exactly as you requested. Just a few slight deviations. We're granting the pay increase you requested. 40% increase, no problem. We're also going to reduce the work week for you guys and gals and zems. From a 40-hour work week, instead of reducing it to 32 hours, we're reducing you to zero hours. Thank you, our meeting is adjourned."

The fact is wages have not kept up with COL

Tell me you watch a lot of ads on TV, without telling me you watch a lot of ads.

It's quite funny how you are using the classic leftie tactic. Always bring up cops and teachers whenever money is mentioned.

The cost of living was set on fire due to both government regulation raising costs on producers (businesses) as well as the injection of trillions of dollars into the economy. Build back better, Jack.

Quit your job at Dunder-Mifflin, and go to the Wendy's where you'll make 10% more. It's not hard.

Sorry dude, but you’re the one who is out of touch with reality. This isn’t some conspiracy theory or dishonest subversion tactic. The bottom half of earners have seen almost no growth in their purchasing power in 50 years

This over the same stretch of time when corporate profits have risen from 1% of GDP to 15%

Our economy is legitimately failing for half of the population. Unions unequivocally are not the singular solution to that failure, but not even admitting that there is a problem isn’t a solution either

If these folks want to be taken halfway seriously, take the pension demand and 32 hour work week and shove it up their asses.

Why? Why do we reflexively defend corporations?

I’ve always done it too, but why do we do it without a second thought?

Wouldn’t it be better to get paid a decent wage and have three days off a week instead of two?

Im sure people in the early 1900s thought the 40 hour work week was a bunch of liberal bs too. Why not work like a dog for scraps?

The company should counter the UAW demands with, "when you make a decent quality product come back and we can talk."

so i guess my bronco will be delayed even more now

And in a couple months when the worker realizes the extra 12% net pay didn't really make a life changing difference he is going to be doing just enough to not get fired. Hopefully yours is already in a airport or racetrack storage yard somewhere.

GM should fire them all, then hire unemployed locals to work at the plant. It's not like it takes skill to watch a robot do something.

Such a dumb statement. Good administration is essential for a good school or school system.

When it’s your turn to be replaced by AI, are you going to thank the firms making millions off the decision to fire you?

Do you not know about basic human psychology? Is that not something your parents taught you growing up?

People in the bottom half of our economy are getting scared and they’re getting pissed. And it shouldn’t surprise any of us when a scared, pissed off creature lashes out.

First off...go frick yourself.

Second...striking as you become obsolete isn't "lashing out". It's the complete opposite. Lashing out, would be burning down factories. These lumps of shite are just walking back and forth holding a sign, chanting non-sense because it's all they know how to do when the union higher ups tell them to do that. You need an enema.

These 3 companies have the highest ammount of overstock and inventory of all the manufactures. Demand has not kept up with supply for GM, Ford, and Jeep

That's mostly them producing all they can to stockpile inventory for a strike.

YTD as of August Ford's number of cars sold is up ~9% y/y. YTD as of June, GM's is up 18%.
