Farrar's bill would penalize men for masturbation because such behavior is a failure to preserve the sanctity of life and "an act against an unborn child."

Does she understand that a human fetus is not the same as unfertilized sperm?

Isn't anal and oral illegal in most states? It ain't like they are going to enforce this bs.

This isn't going to pass. The article says she is just doing it to make a point and that it will not pass. So talking about it is just giving the attention she is looking to gain.

Well if you actually clicked the link, you'd see that the bill is trying to take a jab at male lawmakers and isn't meant to actually be passed.

Yeah...no shite. That was the Silverman joke.

Good forbid anyone on this website read the article.

Eh...had nothing to do with my point, which was that this "idea" was lifted from a comedy bit... I hope you understand I fully well understood she didn't think this nonsense would actually be passed...right?

It's a woman butthurt about women being able to get abortions without running through so many hoops. This "bill" is her "thoughtful" response.

Again, this was Silverman's point, whether you agree with it or not. She was talking about the hoops lawmakers put in front of women trying to have a legal procedure and this was her way of pointing out the absurdity of those laws and how they wouldn't fly if attempted in reverse.

What part of any of that seemed to indicate I didn't understand what was going on here?

By this logic you would fine women every time they had their period

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out what kind of asinine point she is trying to make here? Is she saying that a sperm cell is an "unborn child"? By that logic so is an unfertilized egg.

A sperm cell without an egg to fertilize is just a cell not capable of creating a human being on its own. An unfertilized egg is just a cell not capable of creating a human being on its own. Last time I checked, abortion is the destruction of a fertilized egg which IS capable of and is developing into another human being. And as far as I know, there is no prohibition against a woman deciding to destroy her unfertilized egg if she so chooses.

But it's not an accurate comparison. Just like with a sperm cell, without fertilization an egg cannot develop into a human being on its own. And maybe I'm wrong, but I don't there are any "hoops" women have to go through to destroy an unfertilized egg.

I misinterpreted your intent then. And my rant was more for the thread as a whole, not just you.
