I don't understand the point of this. When did driving become such a laborious task that we need an auto driving car? F that.

Yeah you damn sure aren't putting out a Lithium Ion/Polymer battery fire with fricking water. It's a chemical fire. Pretty much require a lot of sand or a Class D Fire Extinguisher

dragstrips/racetracks have been banning electric vehicles due to fire concerns, and not having the equipment needed to fight that type of fire.

I think in such a self-centered society, it's nothing more than an attempt to claim elitist status.

Once lithium batteries go off they are hard to stop.

And water doesn't work well for a chemical fire.

Some people do not want full self driving to succeed. Prepare for the fearmongering.

My mother and my wife are shite drivers. I would jump at the chance to buy a car that would drive for them.

Why the hell would you not be in the drivers seat?

Also, for those saying never to use water, Tesla's emergency Response Guide calls for 3,000 gallons of water to extinguish fire, and that it could take up to 24 hrs for the fire to extinguish.

It’s not yet clear whether the car had its Autopilot driver assist system activated.

They think someone was driving it with no one in the drivers seat?

Tesla doesn’t recommend even taking your hand off the wheel while in autopilot mode. You have to use a little sandbag to trick it into thinking you have your hand on the wheel or it will exit autopilot mode. On the surface it looks like these people decided to trick it somehow into thinking someone was in the drivers seat and it obviously missed a turn. Not sure how it would have exceeded the speed limit so severely though.

Have you driven in Spring, TX? The number of Asians on the road there rivals even Asia.

I don't think I'll ever ride in a driver-less car. Maybe 1 day if all cars have that capability, I would let it take me home down backroads after a night of heavy drinking. But I don't think I could ever put my life in the hands of an automated car. Planes too. If they ever become automated, I'm waving goodbye to the skies.
