You can always tell people who have been in physical confrontations from those who haven't. This guy hasn't.

I haven’t?

If you think getting hit first is the only reason you must fight, you're delusional. Those football dudes lined up and restricted their movement forward towards the urinals. They were obviously trying to intimidate them, and there was obviously some type of confrontation pre-video.

Must and can are two very different things.

quote:

Complete hypothetical, but if I have to piss, and you're blocking my way... let's just say I'll be taking that piss and it won't be in the urinal whether you hit me first or not.

And that attitude is fine, but that is clearly what you want to do not what you “must do.”

Nope. Pretty clear you're the kind of cat that would be screaming FiGhT FaIr after you just tried to intimidate someone as if they were a bitch but then they took you to the ground and ragdolled you. You are trying to intimidate me and creating a very reasonable scenario that I should fear for my safety. It's me or you at that point.

Oh wait, kind of like what happened here in the video. ??

Based on the video available, the dudes that got their asses kicked were clearly a threat, whether you see it or not.

There are times where you have no choice but to attack in defense. This appears to be one of them. From the looks of it, it was going to happen in the bathroom or a few minutes later in the bar room.

I agree with you. Those dudes fu** around and found out. They hired an attorney because that reconstruction ain’t cheap. They won’t get much of anything out of either guy though.

If I’m either of those guys that are about to get sued, I’m going to trial and requesting a jury.

We aren’t even arguing the same point, but I’ll give it one more go.

I’m not saying the guys were wrong to beat those OU football players, I’m not saying the OU dudes didnt deserve an arse whipping

I’m saying the guys statement that he had no choice is false. He was not blocked from the exit, or being kept from exiting.

quote:

You are trying to intimidate me and creating a very reasonable scenario that I should fear for my safety. It's me or you at that point.

“Saying get the frick out of here” while not blocking the exit is being an a-hole, and creating a situation where you surely can fight but are not left with no other option. The door was right behind him

Whether you think it was right for him to fight is irrelevant to my argument, and frankly we might not even disagree there.

You also run the risk of getting nailed in the back of the head by the "peacemaker" who just de-escalated by punching you in the face and pushed you again. I wouldn't turn my back on those dudes either.

I'm not saying they had no choice, because we can't see how it started, but there's a short window there to make a decision to fight in a tight space or turn your back on someone who's willing to hit you.

Those are good points, maybe they made the correct choice maybe the didn’t. But it was a choice unless the guys were between them and the exit, or actively attempting to harm them.

My issue was with their no choice statement. Best choice for their safety would have been a better / more honest wording if I’m their lawyer. An untrue statement made to better protect yourself can be a turn off for people that otherwise support your case

Just my unpopular 2 cents

In the comments I found another fight in a Kebab shop. These guys are just swinging at air but the best part is the guy sitting at the table that doesn’t fricking move. he just keeps eating his kabob like nothing is happening
No doubt he is the killer in the room

It's moronic to post on social media at all about a fight where you injured someone. Just dumb.

This discussion reminds me of a time when I heroically broke up a fight in a College Station bar (it was an OU weekend, coincidentally). A guy close to my size was pounding the crap out of a smaller guy on the ground. I pulled the big guy up and restrained him while someone else pulled the little guy away. The little attacker's friends took him and left while I hung back w/ the big guy and heard how he was attacked after he calmed down; all was well.

Bout 2 years later I ran into an acquaintance who told me the rest of the story. After I left, the big guy headed downstairs to leave and someone from the other group threw a cheapshot in the stairwell that caused him to miss some work. Some people just don't know how to walk away and let it end.

I’m not sure how big you are, but it is absolutely dumbfounding how often big guys are antagonized by little shitheads at bars. It’s why I stopped going. Never failed there was always some little cocksucker who wanted to show their arse. 9 times out of 10 I was able to walk away from the situation. Those “1 out of 10 times,” I was the “one day you’re gonna frick with the wrong person” guy.

Complete ignorance.

Seen this happen with a friend of mine. Got sucker punched and it did not even buckle him. Guy who did it probably pissed his pants because the beating was on. My friend crushed him. It was glorious.

Wrestler Baw 1 “Which one do you want?”

Football Douche 1 “Get the frick out of here.”

Football Douche 2 pushes Wrestler Baw 1 “What do you got?”

They promptly found out.

I'm about 6'3 or 6'4. I've walked away and laughed it off more times than I can recall. I'm pretty laid back and mind my own business, so it's always been weird to me when someone wanted to let me know he's not afraid of me or whatever. It doesn't occur to them that some of us were the little brothers in crummy neighborhoods who learned how to fight dirty early.

I've gotten picky about which bars I'll hang out at, and it's usually with neighborhood locals or people that went to the same schools. Got to just skipping Friday-payday night all together. I worked as a bouncer at big redneck bars in college, and dumbasses who want to fight just remind me of being at work in a shitty low-paying job, not my idea of having fun.

I’ve seen a former Iowa class 4A state champ who was overweight and out of shape, and more than a decade removed from competition, submit an active starting NFL OL.
