I think his point was Elon isn’t the business genius many here believe him to be. Twitter is a cesspool, but a so-called genius paid $45 billion for it and didn’t seem to have a coherent plan to make it a free speech oasis.
And if he isn’t, so what? I still win. There’s no way I can lose with how things are going at Twitter.

with all due respect to Musk, I hope Twitter and all similar platforms die. They are atrocious for human discourse.

Agree. Society would be much better with no social media.

This is just like Trump people every time he did something that can't be viewed anyway but negative. "Actually, it's good". Lots of people with brains of 14 year olds in here.

Not sure if this message is true or not...just posting what I have seen.
Also, how many "critical" infrastructure teams do you really need?

Story to be updated soon with more: Am hearing that several “critical” infra engineering teams at Twitter have completely resigned. “You cannot run Twitter without this team,” one current engineer tells me of one such group. Also, Twitter has shut off badge access to its offices.

Word inside Twitter is that A LOT of employees are not saying “yes” to staying at Musk’s “extremely hardcore Twitter 2.0.” He has been meeting today with engineers to convince them to stay. His deadline to decide to stay or leave expired 6 min ago.

Twitter’s Slack currently has hundreds of employees giving the ?? emoji, meaning they decided to not stay for Musk’s “Twitter 2.0” cultural reset. The company had just under 3,000 employees remaining before the deadline to say “yes” or not hit 20 min ago.

Hearing from multiple employees that the odds of Twitter breaking in the near future are very high.

but it really seems like he came into this without any sort of a plan
The man walked in on day one carrying a kitchen sink.
He just sent out a mass email asking employees to check a box if they are serious about working for him.
You and I may never know his plan but he is no fool. He obviously does not want thousands of leaches in his company and is getting rid of them. What is left will be a lean and hopefully loyal workforce.
He greatly accelerated the pace of removing dead weight in the company and is doing it with a little flair. Get on board or get the frick out the way.

No, I agree with Ross’ post above actually. It would probably be a good thing if Twitter was destroyed.

I just need it to last through the current snowstorm dumping on the Great Lakes right now.

Of course they aren’t, because this is all Twitter has been for years, just replace Jerry with the Woke:

I thought the time I saw a charity wine auction...a bidding war and 130k later a bottle was bought just so rival bidder didn't win...winner opened it right there...I thought " that's money".
That's nothing compared to buying Twitter and disposing of it

I was laid off from Twitter this afternoon. I was in charge of managing badge access to Twitter offices.
Elon just called me and asked if I could come back to help them regain access to HQ as they shut off all badges and accidentally locked themselves out.

Someone will just buy it at a discount and reverse all of the dumb stuff the king autist has done. It's not going anywhere.

Good thing Twitter is looking for employees in a major employment downturn in SV

The product is the audience, not the platform. If it actually goes down and stays down for an extended period of it could die. But if they can keep the lights on until they rebuild it will be fine.

Route switch networking, load balancing, virtualization, infrastructure security, servers, containers, SQL, orchestration, IAM, storage, and monitoring are all critical areas and probably separate teams. And there are probably even more distinct teams at a company of twitters scale.
