Twitter's choice. All those people are still employed until Feb anyway. They are just locked out of shite.

Do you really not know how layoffs and severance works in the real world? How old are you?

Elon wants them to go back so he can just lay them off again.

Please enlighten us. This should be good.

OP, you know this happens a lot in massive layoffs?
I’m guessing you don’t.

Probably seeking to rehiring people who had ad/marketing connections. Personally, I would only consider returning as a consultant with an obvious pay increase. 3 months severance for a skilled worker may be too sweet to give up if the offer to return comes from a volatile company.

Plot twist, only unvaccinated employees allowed back.

Thanks Elon for making me think of this!

Likely seeking to hire them back as contractors, not employees.
It’s what companies do.

Yup, and they should say no.

If they say no should they not lose their severance? Basically he owns them unless they quit.

You should have read the letter sent to the employees. He put them all on an inactive employment status yesterday and didn't lay them off in the classic sense. They are keeping them employee with pay and benefits, they just don't have access and can't come to the office.

The ones they probably want already have jobs already and are drawing two paychecks.
Why would anyone go back to a place that just axed half its workforce and likely only wants you back because they figured out they fired everyone who knew X. Unless you just enjoy working twice as hard for half the pay.
