How f'ing hard is it NOT to take spare ammo with you on vaca? I've traveled all over the world, visited dozens of countries and never one even came close to having accounted for ammo in my personal luggage.

I found a single loose 9mm round in a bag once after traveling internationally. In some places that’s jail time.

Must’ve taken that bag to the range at one point.

Could’ve been me.

The OT can be an amazing place. It can be funny, it can have serious insight into issues, and it can solve mysteries and so forth.

But the overall reading comprehension is disastrous. If people are going to comment on a thread, at least read the whole thread.

So how did you react to the Griner deal?
Same way. We shouldn’t have traded a mass murderer for her idiot arse. She wasn’t worth that.

She was a retard. This isn’t a complicated thing.

You leave America…the rules no longer apply.

How is this so hard to understand?

Last time I was at DFW there was a guy that appeared to be from a small town and likely an avid hunter. They pulled a loaded magazine out of his carry on. Thankfully he made that mistake in America. Otherwise he could wind up like Griner (expect without the leverage of the media).

I got held up for a 30-06 round in my briefcase at DFW. TSA were dead set on giving me the third degree even though I explained to them I separate my ammo from my firearms when staying at my sister’s house during deer season so there is no way children could put the two together. This round just slipped through the cracks.

A DFW officer baw came up, looked at me, asked if I had any pics of any deer I killed that year, I showed him a couple, he walked over to the TSA job justifiers and had a word with them, to which they objected, and said after I gave him a copy of my drivers license I was free to go.

I got a strongly worded letter from the TSA a few weeks after. I’m sure I’m still on some list.

Turks FAFO. This was a predictable outcome.

This place solely exists to accommodate American tourism and entertainment. Sad how many posters lauded the shite hole third world country’s absurd punishment for a minor crime.

The TSA is in "justify our existence" mode.

Let's harass as many people as we can before technology puts us out of work. Most of their people are unemployeable without a government job.

To be clear, I think both examples that I’m about to give should have just been sent on their merry way.

With that said, it’s interesting to me how many people on this board so aggressively defend an American traveling abroad with ammunition yet were very quick to shite on an American traveling abroad with marijuana.

Every time I fly with my hunting waders I am beyond nervous. Even after checking them over a dozen times for any shells I may have forgotten.

If as you stated in your OP you have traveled the world and visited dozens of countries- then there are way, way bigger rednecks than yourself, many of whom have never left the South, or their own state .

Jesus Christ.. you are exactly the type of person who gives Americans in foreign places a bad name, and makes the rest of us have to try and prove we are decent folks and not ‘ugly Americans .’

Are the Americans accidentally traveling with it, or intentionally? Intent matters.

Illegally sneaking drugs into a country and accidentally having a bullet with no weapon to fire it are not really comparable in my opinion.

I still don’t think either should warrant 12 years.

Also, Russia is our enemy and Turks is our ally. Big difference

In a range bag? Maybe.

In a fricking suitcase? No.

If someone thinks it's easy to leave stuff like this in their luggage they're probably not very clean or organized people

They gave me some shite one time when we flew a private turbo prop into T&C and I had an empty 44Mag cartridge on my key ring.

It’s off my list. I try to avoid countries that engage in those sorts of legal shakedowns.

I once had a knife in a briefcase that was caught by courthouse security. Just forgot it was in there. Mistakes happen.

Of course you find that “interesting”. Of course you do. I’ll save you the trouble and show you a pic of one of the ammo criminals
