TULSA — Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum and Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin met with organizers of peaceful protests in Tulsa.

They talked about vandalism that happened overnight in midtown Tulsa and the peaceful protests in Tulsa on Saturday and Sunday. In that meeting, Bynum agreed to end the city's contract with Live PD.

The controversial show is a hot button topic in Tulsa. Bynum previously expressed support despite outcries from members of the community.

Live PD is/was good for showing people the shite police go through every day. Yes there are terrible things done by police, but they go through a ton of BS day in and day out.

I honestly can't understand why any PD would allow this

I can see why a community would want LivePD out, to be honest. It is a fair demand.

Because it tells their story from a 3rd party independent party? Something they are not guaranteed in the press?

Yea it shows how shitty the "community" (although I'm not sure protesters represent the community of Tulsa, but maybe....I'm certain they wouldn't in Louisiana) really is and doesn't help the rioters cause.

I understand what you're saying, but video has, almost always, been a thorn in the side of the police.

They get the benefit of the doubt most of the time, but they always got it pre-video.

Why? If anything it forces the cops to be on their best behavior

People don't like seeing what surrounds them on a daily basis. They don't like being shown who their neighbors really are.
In reality, shows and efforts like this act as a good checks and balances system.

Them not being live considering the environment last Friday made a bit of sense. 100% spineless bullshite that they pulled reruns of it completely off the schedule. Hopefully things will be back to normal on Friday.

we're missing the main question... will Sticks still be an analyst?

also... what about First 48?

pretty sure that show was in Tulsa too

I believe it's considered a 2nd job for Sticks and not him representing Tulsa. You could tell that they minimized mentioning the connection aside from some procedures that him explaining made TPD look good. Also remember they got out of the first contract and Sticks stayed.

I suspect that he's high enough up/put in the years that he could say "frick it" and retire w/ pension...if he played it right he could get more money from A&E for his LivePD & PDcam hosting duties.

It wasn’t good at showing what cops are like without cameras.

Great PR show for cops in general, because of course they’re acting appropriately on live national TV.

Live PD already has a show in Louisiana. They film live from West Baton Rouge.
