Any list without Nash as #1 is shite.

Thanks again for an enjoyable post.
I vote for Nash. I watched him for every Hurricane Betsy forecast in 1965.
How times have changed. !

Margeret Orr is a vampire.

Margaret Orr has been on the air in this market for over 40 years.
I’m 46yrs old and even though I was born and raised on the MS Gulf Coast, my mom loved watching Margaret Orr in the mornings while getting ready to go to school. It’s hard to believe she is still at it! Brings back some good memories growing up. Watching a NOLA station in the mornings fueled my love for the Saints and the city. Hell, even the traffic segments helped me know my way around the city later in my high school and college years. How things change!

Where to start.........
I thouroughly enjoy your lists and commentary, but you have just rocked my world.
If your list was the Special Olympics of meteorologists, then Bruce would be King of that list.
Bruce talks as though he is trying to get through each broadcast without swallowing...ever.
Just listening to him for 2 minutes makes me feel like I'm going to lose my lunch.
Lou Holtz has clearer, less moist diction than Old Bruce.
For the sake of enjoying your future lists, I'm going to meditate for a while and try and pretend I didn't read this one.

TL;DR
you are in a roll my good man with what appears to be repressed anxiety and need for acceptance by justifying self worth in today’s society.
post less of dis driveling bs, seek professional help...

Breck was completely Wrong about Katrina. Said no big deal, she was going out to sea.
Posted on 8/29/20 at 2:52 pm to UnoDelgado
Friend,
I hope you do not spread that lie. Breck, on August 25, four days before landfall, was warning New Orleans that Katrina was a major threat to the city. At that time, the NHC and most computer models had Katrina being picked up by a trough earlier, and hitting the Florida Panhandle.
Breck, on August 25, believed this trough would take longer to impact Katrina, thus, allowing the hurricane to track farther west. His stern warning that day was that when the trough would swing Katrina due north just in time for the hurricane to hit the city.
Breck was the first NOLA Met to issue the warning, during the 5:00 August 25 broadcast. WWL's Arredondo did echo Breck's thoughts during his 10:00 forecast that same evening. I have no clue what Orr was doing because she is the worst weather person. Was she even a meteorologist at that point?

TulaneLSU

You are the fricking worse
Bob Breck's viper model said Katrina was never going to make it in the gulf.
Bob Breck flip flops a lot. At 5:00 it's not coming our way and at 5:30 he changes his tune.
He does that to keep people interested in his forecast.
He is an alarmist

Used to like Al Duckworth, who would periodically show up smashed on air with mardi gras outfit or tuxedo. It was like watching Foster Brooks do the weather.

Friend,
Do you even have recordings of those August 25 broadcasts? At 5:00, Breck says, "Look, VIPR has it bouncing off the Florida coast. I don't see that happening. This storm is going to get in the Gulf. There's a target on New Orleans right now and everyone should be preparing."
Bob Breck was spot on, and he was the first local or national meteorologist to sound the alarm for New Orleans. Was he alarmist? You betcha. And he was 100% correct in being an alarmist. The Nash Fans still try to denigrate Bob Breck. Grandfather did it, and you're doing it now. That dog don't hunt.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

This was Breck on Gustav....hes the fricking worse
quote:
This morning's VIPIR run (not available on the web...you gotta pay for it) continues to predict a northward turn across Florida on Friday and up the east coast of Florida away from us. This morning's GFS now agrees with VIPIR. What we have to see is that turn to the north. I'd love to see Gustav keep moving more NW since that would take him over Cuba & not allow him to strengthen as most models do that keep him over water. NHC has shifted their track more to the east with us near the "bullseye". As I have often mentioned..."I want to be the bullseye at 5 days since that means it will goes either side of that". I still feel that way. In fact I think NHC will keep slowly shifting the track to the east. Bottom line...until Gustav gets to the Gulf...guessing just makes people nervous for little reason. I will continue to try to be the voice of reason.
Posted on 8/29/20 at 3:11 pm to TulaneLSU
Then why did he say.....
quote:
Breck: "I don't want to scare anybody with this track." (in reference to Katrina's insistence on heading WSW/SW, and the current NHC track)
Posted on 8/29/20 at 3:15 pm to TulaneLSU
2 days before Katrina hit everyone knew that Katrina was going to hit in the LA/MS border, the NHC, wwltv, wdsu...were all saying so.
5 days before Katrina hit Bob Breck was 100% sure Katrina was going up the east Coast US, because his Super Viper was saying so.
4 days before Katrina hit right when Katrina was making the "unexpected westward track across S FL, Bob Breck was still saying it was going go well east of NOLA because his super viper was saying so.
He did get Katrina wrong, and he has admitted that he was severely depressed about it for months.

Does anyone remember probably 30 years ago when bob had a hissy fit on air because Nash predicted A hurricane to turn away from the city when the national forecast still had it coming to N.O.
bob was about to cry on air. Said Nash was irresponsible to deviate from the national forecast. Insisted that he was not some little kid and was a full grown weather man who should be taken seriously. He was very emotional.
Needless to say, the hurricane turned just as Nash predicted.
