Dearest TulaneLSU,
My first post so please excuse any protocol mistakes. I adore your nostalgic New Orleans related posts. As a self exiled, former Arabi native (Arabian??), the St. Claude Time Saver conjures many memories of my childhood. When I was 7 years old, my mother allowed me to walk to the Time Saver for bread. Many other stories of that Time Saver specifically. Tastee Donuts right next door and K &B directly across St. Claude. Thank you again for your post and the fond memories.

do not know at which Time Saver the peerless Tom Fitzmorris worked. Lester Earl indicates that it was on Jefferson Highway in River Ridge.
I believe it to be at the address 8937 Jefferson highway. Currently Tim’s Quick Stop, next door to the stronghold that is louies ace hardware.

One of my biggest time savers is not reading TulaneLSU threads. I do downvote them, though.

Friend,
It is an honor and a blessing to be included in your wonderful stories about your memories of New Orleans and mother.
To know that my life has inspired you in much the same way as the old architecture or cultural icons of your hometown truly humbled me and perhaps is a fitting example of why I am a tier one poster I hope others can learn from my example.
Your friend in peace and hope and love

It took her three hours before she was able to retrieve me. By that time, I had been forced to eat Cheez Whiz from a spray can, something I have never done before or since. I still refuse to eat Philly cheesesteaks that have that disgusting disgrace for cheese on them.
Dear Friend,
So sorry this happened to you. Prayers sent.

The former Time Saver in Belle Chasse is now a dental office.
I will say...your posts have grown on me like a nice Merlot at the Columns in October.

I grew up in Marrero near your #1 Time Saver and spent a lot of allowance there.
Plus, my Dad always had this stuff around.

Friend,
I only know of the Rice vellum because a Kenner cousin graduated there and has his degree in his office. It is beautiful and I am ashamed it makes my embossed paper degree from Delgado look inferior. May God bless you each day, my dear friend.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

1. #56 2200 Barataria Blvd.
The whole entire read through of this thread, I was telling myself, "I hope he knows about this one."
I've had the opportunity to meet the owner of this location through a good friend of mine who (briefly) worked there. The owner currently lives in New York state, while a family member manages it. Really nice guy, but... He almost, ALMOST, tore out the iconic triangle architecture when he purchased the place, but due to budget constraints, it was left as is. He was going to tear it out AGAIN once funding did allow but, through story telling and photos from patrons, he decided, ultimately, to keep it as it was in the end. Thus, the iconic red-white triangle still lives on.
Don't know much else about the store, other than it has a little bit of a tragic history. When Time Saver finally bit the dust, the location was purchased by a family who had then run it for quite some time. Shortly before Katrina hit, the store was robbed and the owner's daughter, who worked there, was shot and killed behind the counter. You can read about it here, although ignore the ridiculous run-on sentence that opens the article; guess standards were getting low for NOLA.com even by the time 2011 rolled around.
Fun fact: The Real Superstore still exists in Canada, eh? They are a Canadian grocery chain whose American line went bankrupt in the mid-90s, largely due to embezzlements by the corporate execs.

I was thinking about that, too. Still sports the architecture, although I can't remember if it still has the classic paint job.
