Looking through the list of past speakers...she's not exactly the Dalai Lama, Justice Powell, Bill Clinton or George Bush, but is at least as good as Ellen or Wynton Marsalis:

Wynton Marsalis (2014 remarks)
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (2013 remarks)
Lisa Jackson (2012 remarks)
Thomas Friedman (2011 remarks)
Anderson Cooper (2010 remarks)
Ellen DeGeneres (2009 remarks)
James Carville and Mary Matalin (2008 remarks)
Brian Williams (2007 remarks)
President George H. W. Bush (2006 remarks)
President William J. Clinton (2006 remarks)
Michael Lewis (2005 remarks)
John Breaux (2004)
David Halberstam (2003 remarks)
William Safire (2002)
Marian Wright Edleman (2001 remarks)
Walter Isaacson (2000 remarks)
Cokie Roberts
Janet Reno
Art Buchwald
Vernon Jordan
Ralph Nader
Andrew Young
Tom Brokaw
Norman Cousins
Dr. Michael DeBakey
Thomas Foley
Lewis Powell
Hon. Corinne "Lindy" Boggs

They may as well burn their diplomas.

Everyone knows it's all about the commencement speaker and not the degree you just earned.

IMO, she would easily be in the top half of that list plus she has ties to the area (which I understand most Tulane Grads do NOT have).

I'd try to bring in Trump. That would be a lesson for them.

Hmmmmm, this is from their own site:

quote:

60 percent of students are female and will travel an average 930 miles from their hometowns to attend Tulane.

This is from another site:

quote:

Geographic Diversity at Tulane University of Louisiana
Students traveled to Tulane University of Louisiana from 47 different states (may include Washington D.C.) and 87% of undergraduates come from out-of-state.

Here are the official enrollment profiles from Tulane, showing that there are more students from Louisiana than any other region: LINK

But hey, never let the facts get in the way.

LOL...Your spreadsheet reads that there are more students not from Louisiana than from Louisiana.

And that was the point of the remark that most students from Tulane don't have Louisiana ties.

Am I missing something? Your link shows 24% of the student body is from Louisiana.

Or what? They will boycott their degrees and be left (or more likely their parents left) saddled with astronomical expenses for fricking off in NOLA for 5 years with nothing to show but a beard or tattoo?

They just won't go to the ceremony.

But there are more from Louisiana than any one other location, which is what he said.

By a whopping .26%

But most students arent from here, which is clearly the point.

This is what he first posted and the reality is Louisiana kids don't even make up 1/4 of the entire student body.
