Trying to understand the meaning of a statement at work

As we talked about things, a Sr Mngr seemed to like the person but then he said the person is a quirky guy. I took it to a safe workplace word to describe some behavior the person exhibited that he did not like. If your boss says you are quirky does it mean you are weird or unpredictable or both? Maybe it means something different all together

quirky is a word to correlate an adjective that rhymes with maggot.

Quirky is not a negative IMHO, but could mean a variety of things from the source.
I have quirky engineers (and have used the word) and they are damn fine employees.

I would take it to mean that person just has some odd or weird habits, or like things a very specific, maybe odd way.
I really wouldn't read much into it TBH
My old manager called me "quirky" once because I liked to arrange my hats on my shelf a certain way

my boss said that the department is blessed to have a unique guy like me. not sure what he meant by that. It was after I explained the blood on my pants was from stopping and helping a baw load a deer he'd just hit up on my way to work.

I would take it to mean he didn't think they would fit in with the existing group/culture of current employees.

To me, quirky is usually someone who has some odd habits, mannerisms, sayings, etc. Basically just someone different from the norm. Not a bad thing, as quirky people are typically very precise and analytic, especially in my field of work.

Different or unique. Not necessarily good or bad. Knowing the tone of how it was said would be a clue.

I worked with a dude who talked about himself as being quirky. In reality, he was batshit insane ocd. Wouldn’t drive down one way streets, wore tennis shoes to work until they raveled of his feet, had to walk around a certain light pole on his way inside, etc.

If you're this hung up on this little statement, I can't imagine what he says about you.

On an unrelated note...One of the Plant Managers for my old company told his Maintenance Manager during his annual review, "If this were Survivor, you'd be the next one voted off of the island".
He didn't know what that meant.

This reads like an LSUCoyote post. Honestly, who gives a damn what other people think.
