Honestly, you can.
I spent the summer of 2022 driving my 20yr old sister around town to businesses with "hiring" signs posted- she went in each one and was told to apply online.

Had a company approach me on LinkedIn for a job for which I couldn’t possibly be more qualified. They put me through the absolute wringer and then sent me a lame bullshite rejection. I don’t know what more they could have possibly wanted. Bunch of shits.

If he is going to cry about not finding a job, you’d think he would at least brush his hair, shave, and get out of a fricking hoodie.
Yeah the average may be 1200 resumes, but guess what I can literally send out 100 resumes in a day to job postings. Many with a single click. Doubt he is filling out a single resume by hand

My advice would be limit your careers to in demand fields especially related to harder to get degrees or certifications.

This is lost on so many people. Some think it’s AI and will continue to grind that ax. Maybe a little of it is but it comes off as chicken little-ish to me with AI as the bogeyman. This generation has built relationships online and in most cases are void of interpersonal/social skills. If you can communicate effectively face to face and have a personality you can build connections/relationships that can lead to work. This generation, probably to some degree and not entirely their fault, just dont have these skills. Every job that I have got has been through a relationship old or new. I have never got a job by simply blasting out resumes and I have blasted resumes before.

The guy doesn't mention it, but there's a real problem for older workers too--if they get laid off or fired, it's very difficult to get another job since they are considered overqualified and it would be cheaper to hire someone newer anyway.
I think the biggest issue with younger people getting hired, is the field they are in. Supply and demand still reigns supreme. If you can do, or will do, something that most won't, you will have no problem finding employment. Too many young people are going into fields that are saturated.

Yes and no. It is definitely different today. But an average guy doesn’t post bullshite on YouTube to bitch about it. He should suck it up and persevere without complaint. You want to complain, bitch to your parents, significant other, friends. Under no circumstance should you be posting on social media. Never.

Why don’t these millenials walk up to the foreman and give him a firm handshake and ask for a job like us boomers?
This is the way…
What people don’t realize is, we boomers still do most all of the hiring!

Become an HVAC tech, electrician, plumber. Plenty of those jobs available, and the pay is good.

He’s looking for a job presumably and trashing female HR employees and calling them DEI hires
He's kind of right though.
Outside of economic and technology related reasons, this is one of the reasons why hiring is so messed up now.
Have you ever met a white woman that worked in HR? They are either blue haired leftist or were a nepotism hire because their dad worked at the company. They're some of the most incompetent people I've ever met in my life and they determine who gets through the door or not.

The biggest problem with hiring today is the filters that are used by the application systems
The second biggest problem is HR gatekeeping the process yet having no idea what actually makes a candidate a good fit for a job.

That’s great, and as a guy who is careening myself towards the age of 50 in a couple of short years- what is your end game ? I ask b/c ive been fortunate (and worked my tail off) to semi-early-retire in my mid 40s, and im looking to be completely off the hamster wheel by 55.. no guarantees, but that’s my goal.. after my mid-50s, i wont be looking to try and w*rk harder or longer, only to stop w*orking .
If you absolutely love what you do, and you would do it for free- then i take back all my questions and assumptions, and i totally get it .

This is why I had to leave Louisiana. While relationships matter, being smart and competent are usually the first things successful companies considered.

Also said the average age of a new hire nowadays is 43 years old
So the younger generation sucks at keeping jobs

It's not a good time at all. I feel really bad for your average new grads/true entry level people in this AI recruiting environment. It was pretty easy to get a entry level white collar job out of school when I was graduating during Trump 1.0 by just applying online. it's a different ballgame now. Ironically, it seems like AI has made personal connections and networking more important than experience & merit.

I Iike what I do, paid for what I know and how to handle things that the less experience can't/won't. I come and go as I please with little to no supervision, mainly because I don't need it. Takes a lot of pressure off company owners. I don't have a lot of hobbies. Me and the wife like taking cruises, so we do that every quarter. My plan is to keep going until I'm 65, stash cash, the reevalute.
That’s sounds pretty good .
Ive always heard that the key to happiness is to be able to work b/c you want to, not b/c you have to.. seems like what youve got going is kinda like a semi-retirement in itself, in a way .

So true.
Interviewing for pharmaceutical company positions and the HR lady doesn’t know an ace inhibitor from her arsehole. It’s like I’m speaking a different language to her . They have no clue what I’m talking about
