I love the front end, but not so much the back. I do love the way Toyotas drive though. The new Accord is nicer than the Camry IMO. Almost bought it a couple months ago, but ended up with the new CRV. Just can't part with an SUV right now.

To make this a worthy debate you have to give us a list of what you think is a sporty car. I'm almost certain that list will be ridiculous when comparing the two, which will nullify your entire thought process.
In short, there is nothing wrong with a Camry that isn't a Lexus GS.
But we can put them side by side and see I guess

The SE is all they got, my wife drives a red one.
It's a POS, stuff breaks all the time, burns a quart of oil a week.

Amazing insight! There is a reason it is the #1 selling car in the US and that is it does what it is intended to do very well. It is certainly not built for fast lapping at NOLA Motorsports on the weekend.

If by "teacher" you mean "secretary", then yes that was the initial market for the Mustang.

I've had a Camry for the last 6 years. Company car. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one if I had a choice/car allowance, but then again, I might. I've never had an issue with it except for a tire that blew out. I've had three in six years, putting about 40-50k miles/year on them. I've been hit by a car going 50, only minor damage to car and I was fine. I hit a deer going 75, and again, minor damage to front end. They're not fancy, but they are safe and reliable. If I ever had a choice, I might just upgrade to an Avalon for the size and bells & whistles.
Now for a purely personal vehicle that is driven around town, dream car is a Lexus LX or a Land Cruiser, but I won't hold my breath on those.
