You live in a rural area? That's the only reason I see for it, when house are spaced out by hundreds of yards and driveways are streets named after the owner.
The flood last year left most neighborhoods here in Denham unable to have trick or Treat.

Well, that's a good reason to do a trunk or treat. The vast majority are lame.

Meh, my neighborhood is full of old or dull people. Maybe 1 in every 20 houses have the light on and give out candy.
Screw hanging around there. Our school/church has a fun trunk or treat. People decorate their vehicles like crazy, DJ performs, dance team performs, free jambalya and beer, and the ladies stand around drinking wine while the kids go to 25 or so vehicles.
It is fun too though to go to friends house who have young active neighborhoods some years. Lot's of gatherings and the kids have a blast while we enjoy visiting with folks as we walk up and down the street.
I can see how each would be fun, but damn you are some whiny arse bitchy SOB's with as much stuff that gets complained about on here. (to the op)

My kids cry every year when I won't let them participate in halloween. Im not gonna risk my kids going to hell by celebrating the devil. They'll be better christians for it when they get older
I know you are joking, but when I was growing up there was a kid in my neighborhood whose parents were members of one of those non dom churches.. It was some small town church and they were overly religious... No shite, if you called their house they answered the phone "praise the lord".
One year they had a sign in their yard that said "Halloween is for the Devil!" and on Halloween night, the sign, their house.. got egged..
Another year, there was a haunted house put on by the city and his dad decided to go back his truck up to the door so no one could get in. He didn't want kids to be exposed to the devil. He got arrested.

So she'd buy a box of MLB or NBA cards for the boys
Seriously, when I was a kid I would have been more excited about this than the candy..

Drive to a more active neighborhood. There are some around me that are really active and fun. Reminds me if the scene in ET where there are dozens and dozens of kids out and about.

If any priests post on here, please let me know if engaging in Halloween is a sin.

Good. Should have set the sign on fire too. Nimrod people like them annoy the hell out of me for some reason.

So are the lil punk kids being brought in from bad neighborhoods by their mom
Their fathers sure as hell aren't bringing them.

Well usually you do this and neighborhood. Some hover parents think some things are unsafe and try and ruin it for everyone though.
I get mad when I decorate and get less than ten trick or treaters.

really? It actually saved trick or treat in Chalmette post Katrina. There were no houses to visit. Neighborhoods and streets were littered with construction debris. Al lot of areas weren't safe for kids. The trunk or treat they put on was the only Halloween those kids had.

Halloween has been ruined for kids since the 60's. All the sicko's and pervs out there have seen to that.

We went to Sam's and bought 5 of those big arse bags of candy. I really hope I have a lot of kids come by or my holiday weight gain will begin.
