But the sales people sure get paid accordingly. Mini commissions galore for sales people that put up with being labeled a scumbag, talked down to and lied to.

You buy from Ford.com. Yes, it gets shipped to a dealer, but there's no negotiation over bullshite nitrogen filled tires, no "availability" markups, etc.

Like I previously said, too much of this board develops an urgency problem (we need to buy a truck this weekend!) which creates the circumstances where dealers can take advantage of your self-generated bias to acquiesce to things you know you shouldn't.

this is correct.

manufacturers give volume/time rebates to dealers.

Yep. No matter how good a deal anyone thinks they got, money was made by everyone in the chain.

Doesn't make it any less insane that prices have inflated 80%+ in just 5 years. ..which was the pint of the post.

Exactly. Seems like car dealerships are the only one that isn't allowed to be capitalists amongst the sea of capitalism.

Was talking friend the other day who owns a used lot. He said his financing for people with halfway decent credit was at 13% and bad credit is capped at 17% in Arkansas. Before to long bad credit folks won't be able to get financing.

Point is, plenty of folks were proudly paying MSRP for the past 2 years.

How about this Laramie 4X4 with prices slashed? $53k

It fortunately wasn't as bad. It seems like they're inflating prices just to show discounts again. I paid just over 52k for a 4x4 Laramie just under a year ago. They were listing lower but offering less in discounts. I luckily was on the back end of the market misery.

I do not think Courtesy in Lafayette understands how to use the slash line.
