WTF do you even have a truck?
I have a luxury truck and I like it.

I get it on one level, some people just prefer a truck. However, I see a truck as a utility vehicle and can't wrap my head around driving a relatively poorly performing passenger vehicle compared to others at the same initial cost and with generally higher running costs if you don't need the utility of a truck.

Mine is electric.

You'd be surprised how many times we throw something in there and find out it's a couple inches too long.
Your house advertising is kind of a scalar hint though:

Zach Top is as good as it gets when it comes to a new artist making 90s country.
I agree with that, but Joe Diffie just had a different type of outlook on things.
Think about these songs: Prop Me Up Against the Jukebox, John Deere Green, Third Rock from The Sun, Pickup Man and a bunch more.
I loved that guy's songs. He did stuff that could make you grin when you thought about it. Fun Stuff.

It doesn't change my POV, in fact, it strengthens it. Again, I just have a performance bias when utility is not needed. To each their own.

6' bed in a 2015 Colorado. They only offer 5' beds now so I will wait til mine craps out (251k miles) and buy a Silverado with a 6.5' bed next.
5' and 5.5' beds suck. I might think differently if I could back a small trailer better than a retard...

You're missing out man.
I had a single cab F250 for a little while. Easily my favorite truck I ever had.

I wound up with that shorter bed so I started carrying a Dewalt circular saw in my toolbox. Now, I just cut off whatever is too long right there in the parking lot.
But seriously I pull a trailer most times I go to Lowe’s or Home Depot so I don’t care.

Ext cab F-250 8' is the best-lopking pickup ever

I'm not an extended cab fan.
To me, the single cab long bed HD trucks always look the best. They are just grossly impractical for a family. It was fine back in the day when you could make the kids ride in the back all the way to grand isle but not anymore.
I've considered getting a 4500 crew cab just so I could get a 12' flat bed. If they wouldn't ride so awful empty I'd absolutely have one. There's about 3 times a year, maybe, that I get mad at myself for having such a long truck and the other 362 days, I love it.

Go with 5.5’ and use a trailer when you need to. 5.5’ is better for daily driving and resale. If you need a 6.5’ every day then you probably needed a 250/2500 anyway
That’s basically it. 98% of my needs can be handled with the 5.5 bed. I just use a trailer for anything else. And usually that anything else is too wide to fit in the bed whether it be 5.5 or 6.5.

and here I thought I was gonna be cute and drop of Joe Diffie reference 4 pages in. Should’ve known the OT had it covered by the 5th post.

Mines a 6.5 with a low profile tool box. Can haul my grizzly 700 atv with tailgate down.

With that in mind; something the approximate size of a Toyota 4Runner, GMC Canyon, Ford Ranger, or Chevrolet Colorado may be a better choice than full sized trucks for a lot of folks. In the case of the GM and Fords at least.....they can easily move 2-3 tons. With the 2.7L Turbo engines, they are every bit as powerful and heavy as full sized trucks were 20 years ago. And they are cheaper, easier to park, and probably easier to maintain than full sized trucks too since they have less tech. The slightly smaller size also makes them a little better off road typically than the full sizers, but that's not important to everyone.
I don't like turbo motors, so if we have to have turbo engines, I'd prefer to have a setup with just one turbo instead of multiple. So my preference is the 2.7L Turbomax in the GMC/Chevrolets or the 2.4L Toyota I-Force turbo in the 4Runner/Tacoma..... but the 2.7L V6 Ford Ranger twin turbo is also very good.
To me, it's easier to keep everything in a trailer and just take that when I need it. That way I also have a clean vehicle that's easy to drive/park when I don't need the trailer at least. You can do that will a full sized, but if you can get away with less interior space.....I'd 100% go mid sized in that scenario.
If you need everything with you all the time.....truck with the longer bed is the way to go. And you may as well go full sized in that respect.

Some of the manufacturers have a way to tie up a back up camera on a trailer to the screen in the truck. Worth looking into if you have an enclosed trailer that you can't see over easily.
We have a 14' high roof enclosed trailer that we park in a very tight garage sometimes. I use a front bumper mounted hitch on our John Deere to move it around in the garage. It's only a garden tractor and I'm probably overloading that front hitch, but it's got power steering, hydraulic lift, and it's insanely easy to manuever it into fetch the trailer and move it into the exact spot (within an inch or two) in the garage. The first time I tried it, I wondered why I was fussing with a rear mounted hitch on the tractor or the pickup to park that trailer.

I had so much crap in old truck, I picked up 2mpg highway when I unloaded it.
But if you needed a spare rotor for a C5, Im your man.

I have a Tacoma with the longer 6' bed. I have never regretted getting the longer bed. I've had many times where the 5' bed would have been insufficient or a pain in the arse to get the job done.
