I have the 5.5 bed simply because I like the way it looks. Had both 6.5 and 5.5 beds and haven’t noticed needing the extra foot when carrying anything. Sure there is something where it would come in handy just haven’t run across it yet.

You should hang onto it and run it up to 400k miles before retiring. I have a 2009 double cab Tacoma with the 4.0 V6 with 145k on it and it drives like the day i bought it. Put 350k on the 4.0 V6 before this one.

I have the 5.5 and it's typically hard to find a 6.5

I would trade my 5.5 for the 6.5 in an instant

That’s what’s keeping me from buying a 2500 Denali… just don’t need it

2005 Toyota Tundra Double Cab - 6.5 feet. Perfect length for hauling my ATV with tail gate closed. Not too short, not too long.

All these fairies buying "trucks" as luxury vehicles are driving ridiculous stuff like 5.5 foot beds on trucks.

WTF am I supposed to use my truck for. I'm an upper class guy. I don't need to do any hard dirty work. People haul stuff to me. 51/2 feet.

I’ve got an excellent enclosed trailer. So for me a short bed is more than adequate. If it’s too small I have the trailer, which is comparatively massive in capacity (both volume and weight) to even an 8’ bed on 3/4 ton truck. And I’m not dragging around the extra metal when I don’t need it.

A 6.5’ bed + crew cab on a modern full sized truck would be kind of a pain in the arse to garage. I personally would not do that unless I needed that extra space daily. And even then I’d try to get a stabbin cabin and stack things higher if I could. Kind of depends what you are putting back there and how often.

A friend of mine has that 6.5’ crew cab setup in a 2022ish GMC Sierra half ton and his truck is significantly longer and wider than a similarly configured 3/4 ton truck from the 1990s. He uses the truck for work exclusively and he is always using that bed - even has a drawer system for all of his equipment. But it’s hard to garage and hard to park in some circumstances. He also doesn’t use the truck for personal use so he’s not unloading and loading constantly; a work trailer and smaller bed wouldn’t be needed in that circumstance.

Foot more of space you don’t have to tie down. Long beds are a requirement else just get a suv

I got an eight-foot bed that never has to be made
You know, if it weren't for trucks, you wouldn't have tailgates

F-150 and it's a 6.5 foot bed. Is that a big difference from the 5.5 foot bed?

definitely a difference.

A difference of 1 foot.

After owning quite a few F-150’s with the 5.5 foot bed I’m officially done. Every year for hunting season it really aggravates me. I’ve decided my next truck if it’s another F-150 it will have the 6.5 footer, even if I have to order it.

I have a 2020 Tundra with a 6.5 bed and I'm glad I chose it.

I can load my Honda CRF450 RL and close the tail gate.

I can load my 11.5' Jackson fishing kayak and not have to use a bed extender.

The back seat is still big enough for the rare times when I have to carry people. The Toyota Crew cab back seats are way too big to be useful unless you're hauling around a bunch of 275 lb Baws at the job site all day.

but when buying for “resale”(sooner or later, we all will need to replace)

I'll never understand this thinking. I buy something to use it. And I use the piss out of the things I buy so I try to buy the best quality I can afford. I regularly drive my vehicles over 200K miles. By the time I'm ready for a new one resale is a joke.

5.5, big enough for my needs. Also, if this thread title changes, the 5.5 foot bed of my truck is sufficient.

I have 3 trucks. One 5.5 and 2 that are 6.5.

I like the 6.5 beds much better.
