I rode in one back from Atlanta. Automated stop at Tesla supercharger included.
I wouldn't say I didn't have anxiety over FSD...but it cooled off as the night wore on.
I did NOT trust it as much as my driver did. But I was impressed.

The Waymo vehicles were experiencing safe glitches. No one was injured.
An Uber self driving vehicle did result in a fatality with a human driver behind the wheel … almost 9 years ago. Uber abandoned attempts to produce their own autonomous vehicle because their technology sucked.

Everything you've said makes sense until we consider the insurance companies. They aren't exactly friendly neighbors, more like parasitic guests.
