Health experts often use the word “epidemic” because as of 2016, the latest year for which official data is available, almost 40% of adults in the United States were obese. This is almost double the figure for the 1988-1994 period, when just over 22% of adults were obese.

Men accumulated just over a pound, on average, between 2006 and 2014, while women gained four pounds.
The average adult male in 1976 was 172 lbs. 2014 was 196 lbs.
Females in 1976 were 144 lbs. 2014 was 169 lbs.

Seems like based on those numbers women have always been fatter than men relative to their height.
Men are taller, have thicker bones and more muscle, and are less than 30 pounds heavier than women on average.

It’s no fun staying skinny

Also, women have gotten fatter at a higher rate than men since 1972.
They added 25 pounds to their average over that span while men added 24 pounds.
But besides the gain in real numbers, women have smaller frames than men, so adding 25 pounds to a smaller frame would be like men adding 35+ pounds on average.

I just want to get in here before the people who post about how they're not obese because they lift weights.

Your eyes have become too fat accepting. Everyone who isn't fat now looks too skinny when in reality they are normal.

That is fricking disgusting. I know it's not fair that men get more leeway with their weight, but there is nothing more off putting than a fat woman.

I’m 194 and not obese.
You fat fricks are skewing the results.
