YES, it is very OT trashy. No need to wear your LSU Columbia fishing shirt and camo hat when vacationing in midtown Manhattan. It's like these people don't own nice close without LSU on it. We get it, you LOVE LSU and want everyone to know how big you are into sports. But, let's try to be a little more sophisticated and leave the SEC gear at home.
There is a difference between wearing a Ping or Peter Millar polo and wearing a camo LSU hat everywhere you go. I know it's not far away, but usually the LSU fans I see in Atlanta (not for games, just randomly) that are obviously traveling are pretty normal looking and not over the top.

The stereotypes are true 80% of the time.

It's not trashy if you dress in Alabama Crimson Tide apparel from head to toe because that's how people will know that you are a Winner and you are Awesome.

To each their own. I don't wear LSU gear unless I'm going to a game or (occasionally) just sitting around the house, but that's just me. I do find it a bit funny to see the people who wear nothing but "college clothing" every day. I'm talking about going out to dinner on a Friday night in June with their "good" LSU polo on. Or some kind of family event with their nice LSU Columbia fishing shirt. It's as if they literally don't have a non-LSU shirt. You're always a fan, but in some situations it might be better just to leave the college gear in the closet.

I'm not against it, but some people take it overboard no matter if they are travelling or at home. A t-shirt, a polo, a ball cap.....don't even notice it. But too much is just stupid unless you are at an event.
Just around where I live I see people in what I consider ridiculous. Just yesterday saw a couple and every single thing they were wearing was Iowa Hawkeyes gear. And LSU has it's fair share of offenders. There is a guy that walks around the neighborhood in an LSU full brim hat, LSU shirt, LSU shorts. And he does it often. That's not just grabbing something to go out for a walk. That's intentional and a bit much if you ask me. If it was just one of the items...fine....or maybe if it was just laundry day that one time....but it gets stupid.

I've walked through Moscow wearing an LSU polo. Singapore too.
In both places, someone shouted GO TIGERS.
I had to stop wearing them in Singapore because every cajun in the land hones in on purple and gold

Wearing LSU hat or polo while travelling is a great way to show your pride in the institution. And it acts as a conversation-starter, especially with other SEC folks travelling abroad.
Did you not have great memories while there? Are you not really into UGA athletics? Are you afraid people in Pacific NW will assume you're a redneck if you wear UGA gear?
Bottom line, there's nothing wrong with advertising your college allegiances, especially while travelling.

Leaving the south is the best decision I ever made; and a ton of southern people are moving here. I'm not saying I'm above any culture because I'm not, but I fit in better here. The mountains were calling.
You don't seem to fit in here very well either.
Why don't you go frick a pine tree?

I don't find it trashy at all, especially if you are wearing a nice LSU polo or something. Trashy people can't even afford nice LSU (or other University) clothing. Besides, it is a cool way to meet people. Every time I go out of state I end up meeting someone because they came up to me and told me they went to LSU or have a kid at LSU or whatever.

I always found it amusing when I would fly in/out of Baton Rouge the amount of people flying(year round) wearing head to toe LSU gear(LSU hat, shirt, hoodie jacket, etc) carrying their LSU duffel bags/carry-ons/backpacks.
OMG did you LOL?
