Trashy neighbor’s pit bull - need advice

Neighbor 3 houses down just got a massive pit bull. Like 70+ pound dog.
They don’t have a fence and leave the dog to just chill in their driveway.
While walking my dog, the dog barks at us and bows up, but has not charged us yet.
Needless to say it makes me nervous as hell walking by. First thing I plan on doing is asking the homeowner to chain it up, or keep it inside, but I won’t count on that solving the problem.
Should I just carry my pistol? Taser?
What would y’all carry while walking to fend this thing off if you had to?
InB4 trashy neighborhood etc.
I know I’m not OT baller status, just don’t want to die or have my dog attacked while getting exercise.

One, if you can I would carry, no reason to risk injury while you find out who their insurance company is and call them to report that they have a dangerous dog that is not properly restrained.

Sniff his butt to let him know you’re cool

Be sure to take care of the owners when you take care of the pit. Do your community a favor.

Is there no leash law in your county? Report their arse.

Dog is on and apparently stays on their property. No laws have been broken yet.

Yes it has not yet…
But it gets up and barks at us. Idk about you but I would like to have something to defend myself in case the dog decides to attack.

Treble hook wrapped in the ground beef.

Depends where he lives. Having a pitbull in your driveway with no leash on is illegal here

Pistol won't help you. Unless you are type to practice constantly then the chance you pull out your gun and accurately aim at a quick, lunging pit bull are 50/50, at best.
Contact the city or county and advise them of the issue. If they don't handle it, maybe walk your dog in the other direction and stay away unless you believe you have a foolproof way of dealing with a rampaging dog.

I’d call animal control two days ago.

Yeah, but you should do so just in general.
Dogs sense fear. Maybe just go to the dog one day (don't bring your dog).. Or maybe go talk to the neighbor, tell them your concern, let them introduce you to the dog so that he knows you are not a threat.
Do they have a shock collar on it? Maybe that's why he just chills in the driveway and not drifts off.
