I was forced to go to one for a distant family member. I was embarrassed to be there. Walked over, away from the crowd of idiots to where old man was burning up some burgers and dogs and drinking beer. Waited there for the rest of the "party".

It's not so much the world caring as it is your friends and family. You know, the people who are typically invited to these things.
