No kids no wife (by choice) so no reason to build wealth. I spend my time in retirement traveling and yep sometimes I sleep in my car near national landmarks and parks and sometimes in a hotel. All I need is a place to sleep, a hot plate and a mini fridge. I have all the camping gear I need and see this beautiful country and a good part of the world.

BTW my Outback is AWD to helps me in all climates, a full size air mattress that can be converted into a twin, but I admit sometime me and my pillow sleep in a reclined front seat.

Road tripping around this country has been one of the best things I have ever done, so much to see, history, geography ( the mountains in the west will make you feel small), and the people you meet. You can have your half a million house to live in I would not trade what I do hiking and camping for anything.

Yep.

With my income and no dependents, id have a single wide with a 60x60 shop, a camp in grand isle, a 39' yellowfin, a F350 king ranch, and id drink beer after work on my single wide porch waving to all the poor house broke husbands hurrying home to bring their kids to ball practice while their was-hot-20-years-ago wife burns a grand on Amazon

Nothing wrong with a trailer. Trailers these days are built to higher specs than most houses. I have a house and no mortgage but if my house burned down or got destroyed in a storm or something I am not rebuilding at 56 and single. I would just buy a nice trailer and be done with it. This point in life I am not concerned what anyone thinks.

Some people like to live outside of their home, some people like to live in the their home.

I'd rather have toys to play with and live in a trailer than sit around a big house all the time.

Depends if they own the land. It’s great way to get some land and a shop started for your toys then build the house when the time is right

why do you care? And what is wrong with a trailer? I haven't lived in one for 25 years but would do it again in a heartbeat... And park my plat and TLX in the front yard.

I agree, to an extent. A trailer should not be a "forever home". You don't have to live in a mansion or even a nice subdivision for that matter. Trailers should be a starter home for young people getting married or just starting out

Well, at least they have a nice truck.

When a trailer is placed on a lot and the chassis is removed, it is classified as a single family home. It appreciates like a house would.

Man, this one was close to hitting home for me. Yes, we have a trailer (double wide is the preferred nomenclature) and yes, we have a camper (actually two) in the front yard. Luckily there is no boat in the driveway. It's parked in front of the double wide next door. Charlie died, God Rest His Soul, so we bought his POS DW. Living the 292A life!!!

I used to jusdge this guy that lived in a double near me that had a SUPER nice boat in his front yard. Then I realized, that maybe thats all the house he needs and he'd rather be fishing. Why do I care what he spends his money on?

Is there anything that screams “I’m horrible with money” louder than living in a trailer while also owning a $40,000 or more camper and a $40,000 or higher boat? I just shake my head when passing trailers with these in the driveway. Bonus points if they have a brand new $55,000 Dodge Ram to pull it all. If you live in a trailer, perhaps you should be saving money to build or buy a brick home somewhere instead of pissing away $3,500 a month in monthly 10% APR notes on these toys.

or you can just mind your own business and be miserable not owning a boat and keep all your money.

You will be able to spend it all after you die.

I mean some people pay cash baw. I know quite a few with toys like this. They are not drowning in debt by any means and the funny thing is all of them have multiple sources of income.

I make it a point at every campsite I visit to go over and talk to the people next to me, or help them set up if they just arrived. Honestly if you are not an asshat you can make friends that will invite you to share their toys whatever they may be and where ever you are.

Or they could do like I do and pay to store their camper in a covered facility then pull it out whenever they want it instead of taking up room in their driveway.
