Wasn't this new construction supposed to lessen traffic? It is 10 times worse. Why didn't they just allocate that money to making a 4 lane bridge over the river? The bottleneck is what backs it up all the way to Lakeview hospital.

The new 190 will be what the DOTD calls a “superstreet”.

It has to be hurting the businesses there. I used to get groceries and gas there but have gone elsewhere since the construction.

The interstate from highway 59 to Covington is an absolute shitshow from about 3-6

I'm sure people driving 5 miles an hour in front of the bridge by Target doesn't help. I don't understand when people slow down there yet speed up on that giant bridge that you take from Slidell to Biloxi.

The very worst traffic I've ever experienced was on US-190 during the time right after Katrina / right before Rita. It took me an hour to get from Northpark Nissan to the exit that's now called Judge Tanner Boulevard.

I lived at O'Neal and I-12 in BR and it would take me 2 hours to get home from Florida and Lobdell after Katrina. I could have walked home faster

This desperately needs to happen.

I get on and off of that exit for work so I avoid most of that traffic luckily, but I absolutely cannot understand what force of nature is causing that stoppage. My buddy thinks it’s the on ramp going up the bridge but I don’t really buy it. It’s slow when there are no cars trying to merge and then immediately opens up once you’re over the bridge. One of life’s mysteries I suppose.

I told my state reps that this was a waste of money. They disagreed.

100% agree with this statement.

Even if the superstreet works its still going to back up at the bridge. That bridge was to small when they built it. And its not like they dont have the land on either side. You see how far off of 190 those businesses are on the norht side? Thats because all that land is already owned.

Covington/Mandeville is on the fast track to look just like Metairie. Sound barriers on the interstate are coming in short order. The N/S arteries (21, 190, 59) are all gonna be widened.

The area already looks bad and its only going to get worse.

Having lived in both of those places, you're giving St. Tammany way too much credit. Worst place I ever lived.

It's the combination of a merging on ramp and not being able to see what lies on the other side of the bridge making drivers instinctively slow down. Basically 3 lanes being forced blindly into 2 where there's no emergency exit (median) because of the bridge railing.

Morons cant merge onto 12 going west.

The lane is 3/4 of a mile long and every dip shite need to stop and get into moving traffic. It amazes me on a daily basis compound that with the tchefuncte bridge on 22 being opening for boat traffic. Its crazy.

The on ramp onto the 12 needs to put the plastic lane sticks so jerkoffs dont cross the solid line
