It was one of the single most retarded traffic plans I've ever seen, especially since I have to drive it everyday. It should make a huge difference when they finish.

That i-12 exit is the worst, the whole deal is going to be far more congested than the southshore in 10 years

Ya should have been here 20 years ago. This place used to romp with 35 mph speed limit signs like they were going out of style. It looked like Diamondhead, MS. But, without all the golf carts.

I remember moving to Mandeville in 91. Nothing but trees where Barnes and Noble, PAC, the post office is at. So much better than Metairie Lite.

I still remember when pretty acres turned into Walmart that had McDonald’s.

I absolutely cannot understand what force of nature is causing that stoppage
There are some chronic traffic slowdowns that defy explanation. Maybe if we had a birds eye view it’d make sense. In Houston, the westpark tollway I drive every day slows to a crawl bc people slow down to exit onto the Beltway. If they’d simply exit at a normal speed there’d be no traffic jam but that’s asking too much.

I remember when Shoney’s and K Mart were the only things over there you’d leave Mandeville for.

I’m in that area too, but I find that the Brewster entrance is not much faster, if at all, unless there’s an accident. The Tchefuncte bridge backup is annoying but it moves steadily.

Its an absolute disaster along with the wasteful spending which is typical. Rumor has it more lights will make the traffic flow "quicker" through that area however having a 2 lane bridge is good enough at the River....

Not steadily enough. The backup on the interstate stops 190 all the way back to Florida st and causes gridlock for all of the people trying to get out in front of lakeview at 5. It’s a parking lot but good luck getting someone to let you merge across traffic. Assholes.
And if they improve flow on 190 southbound with all of this new construction, it’s only going to bring more people into that funnel backing everybody up that much quicker.
They’re solving the wrong problem imhfo

Not steadily enough.
And yes, north/west 190/I-12 after 4 p.m. is a ridiculous clusterfrick. With very few exceptions, it is caused solely by drivers who can't negotiate a very easy, wide merge between northbound 190 and southbound 190, and/or who then don't know how to use a mile-long merge lane onto the interstate.
Immediately after that merge, our fearless drivers must navigate one of the most dangerous river crossings in the western hemisphere, the Tchefuncte River bridge. Better slow down just in case you reach the end of the flat Earth and fall off on the other side!

You talking about the K-Mart in a Mandeville that recently closed or was there one in Covington?

I remember when the first Mc Donald’s opened on Claiborne Hill and when we got Woolco which eventually became the first Walmart. It was where the Covington rouses is now.

You mean delchamps
That, a trip to pats video express, and a snowball on the way out used to be one hell of a Friday night.

Dang where’d you find that map? Nostalgia over here. My dad taught me how to put there, and then would make bets with the people on the putting green. I was better than they anticipated lol

Yeah. The one that just closed last year across the road from Whole Food.
There was barely enough traffic to justify having lights over there.

we moved to a house in the back of CCC in 1976. back then 190 was 4 lanes with a service road, and there was nothing between 12 and the river but trees, louis prima's and the mcdonalds on that corner
you turned on to tchefuncte drive right off of 190 into the subdivision...
