They repaved the horrible parking lot

Exactly.
It was built when evidently, there wasn't a decent commercial contractor on the Northshore.
There are other terrible ones, but that one is/ was especially bad.
i dont know the history of the area, but what it seems like is that what SHOULD have happened, is that the entire area from the o190 overpass all the way back to Lasalle and over to Asbury should have been completely leveled and started over from scratch. but respectable businesses sort of built up piecemeal in there (Starbucks, CFA, Griege or whatever that place is, Jersey Mikes, and now TJs) so it just never happened.

Way back, the Trader Joe's was a Winn Dixie
Was a Delchamps.
Also, next to it was a Radio Shack and bookstore. Can't remember what was in the place the dollar store now occupies.
K'mart was the anchor in the other large building that borders the street where the gymnastic place is located.

Correct, my recollection only goes back to 1987 or so, so can't claim to know what it was before Delchamps. Grew up nearby, went there all the time.

I’m wondering how many of you bastards I know in real life. I worked at Delchamps when I had half days my senior year. 1995-96. I can’t recall if it was anything before Delchamps. But I remember loving TG&Y when I was a kid, where Coscinos/west marine is now. Bought my first bike from them

Most like the $3 shopping bags that are being resold for like $100

That's right, a Delchamps until it moved across the street then became an Albertsons .....now it's Whole Foods. 3 high end grocery stores on 190 within 3 minutes of each other in Mandeville. Not to mention 3 big Rouses south of 1-12 between the east and west approaches.....many I forgot about the Radio Shack

Miss having a Radio Shack around.
Wasn't there a Party City were Trader Joe's us located?

that whole area is a clusterfrick for such primo northshore real estate. driving in that parking lot is like entering some sort of 4th dimension funhouse. from CFA all the way across to Coffee Rani, nothing seems to flow or go the direction it shoudl go, and the terrain is more cratered than the moon.
Extremely accurate

I wouldn’t call Trader Joe's high end. Trendy, yes.

It wasn’t Chuck E Cheese it was Showbiz Pizza

it's weird because there are some decent quality businesses in that lot, but the parking lot is like something out of a small town that has been neglected since the 80s.
There are separate owners for each area, so cooperation was non existent historically. The Trader Joe’s parcel was a dog with a crappy owner that wouldn’t spend on upkeep.
Hopefully now that Trader Joe’s is onboard, it will stay nice(er)…

Nope. It was a Chuck E Cheese. I remember the mouse door kids could go in by the entrance.
I know it was a Chuck E Cheese bc my mom has a pic of me and my brother with the Chuck .
I think Delchamps was the first tenant in the Building. The strip next to is had , I think a Salon, a music store and Radio Shack
I dont remember when it opened but, where the UPS store is now, was a Roma's Pizza. The best nasty pizza around.
