It's definitely not high end like "bespoke" gourmet markets that carry a $65 dijon mustard hand ground in the French countryside with vintage 17th century tools in an artisanal blown glass bottle stamped #236/500.

However, most supermarkets have always stocked a discounted generic store brand in which the cheapest mustard manufacturer adds even more xantham gum, water and yellow food dye and it sells for less than every other mustard.

What Trader Joes does is get a company like Maile or Grey Poupon to produce a similar Dijon mustard they package as Trader Joes Dijon and sell it for a couple of dollars less than that brand.

So, not high end but comparable quality to the better popular brands most supermarkets carry at a lower price. Upper middle end.

The parking lot and building with Trader Joe’s, Jimmy John’s, the tea shop and the dollar store is owned by an Israeli dude. He’s based out of New Orleans but spends most of his time overseas. He’s basically a cheap a-hole and refused to fix that parking lot for years. At one point his solution was to pay some Mexicans to come dump bags of QuikCrete in all the holes and that was only prompted by a lawsuit after some senior citizen got injured. Traded Joes wrote the repair into the lease contract and that’s what got it fixed.
