Are they all 4 cyl I assume?

Yep, 4 cylinder, which is pretty much what you can expect these days from most of its competitors in the small to medium SUV market.

edit: not a turbo, was mixing it up with the new 4Runner

Can’t go wrong with a Rav 4 or a Honda CRV.

My wife has the newest generation RAV and it drives great.

I just test drove a little commuter Chevy Trax for myself today and it had a 1.2L 3 cyl turbo . Honestly better pickup than you'd think and a surprisingly impressive car for $21k new.

Also, it's the Corolla Cross with the CVT, not the RAV 4. The non-electric RAV has an 8 speed automatic.

I stand corrected.

Man you people are arseholes.

ETA: And frick any CVT from any manufacturer. It’s shitty disposable tech.

I know a guy with a 2002. He has put 400k on it and has barely done anything other than very basic maintenance.

Are the new yoters the 4 banger turbos? I bought my wife (no pics) a Highlander last year and found a mint used one with the V6. Seems like I remember the latest yoters having the pinko commie EPA fig 4 bangers with the turbo.

I can attest to the Nissan CVT being a hunk of junk. It pretty much totals the car once you hit 100k miles.

Had a 2019 XLE and loved it, we just outgrew it.

There was certainly a lag that was likely transmission oriented, and my head remained on the roof when I sat in the passenger seat.

RAV-4's are great, owner satisfaction, reliability and resale value. The CR-V's are also very good.

The Bad:
The passenger seat sits way too fricking high and isn't adjustable.
6'2+ passengers will not like that front passenger seat.

This is for his teenage daughter, so this is a good thing, not bad.

You think dad wants her bringing along a 6'4 longstroker? Hell no.

The only issue I’ve seen from others is that it has trouble towing a 38 foot contender.

If whatever you are looking at has a turbocharged engine or cvt transmission, RUN the other away. I am not joking.

We owned a 2002 Rav4 that was made in Japan. We kept it for 21 years, trading it in last year after about 250,000 miles. Only major problem during that time was with the computer brake system. We did not get another Toyota as the quality has fallen off and it was not worth the Toyota premium.

I bought a used Rav4 Limited. Has backup camera, cruise control and blind spot monitor.

Have had no issues with it. Toyota certified used cars are great and you don't need to be original owner for them to honor 100K warranty.

I buy low mileage cars usually no older than 3 years and less than 30K.

It's what killed Nissan.

If we were talking nissans, it's a transmission to avoid.

But we aren't. The cvt is only used in the hybrid rav4 models and is, for all intents and purposes, bulletproof.
