They need to have the front of the Avalon and the rear of the Camry.

Does the Camry dent in the rear bumper come standard?

Even worse.

Where is the front end on the Avalon? Did they forget to install it? Was it removed in a collision?

Toyota, Lexus, and Honda have been hesitant to go the forced induction (turbo) route for some reason. 301 HP out of a V6 isn’t overly impressive. Not bad but they could easily get 360+ out of that motor with an average sized turbo added. Interior looks pretty good. I’d probably test drive one but doubt I’d buy it unless they added some power. I wish they would offer more cars in a manual but sadly it appears they’re dying.

I feel like this would have been better executed under the Lexus badge.

300 horsepower and an automatic transmission.

Ya, I'll pass.

What a nonsense reason. 300 HP combined with modern auto transmission can be pretty sporty, especially if as I suspect it has manumatic shifting.

Wut? The IS, GS, NX, RC Lexus models all have at least one turbo engine. The Accord is only offered with turbos outside of the hybrid.

I won’t be buying anything toyota/lexus until they ditch those horrendous front-ends.

It's a perfectly good reason. 300 HP is not that much power. Especially for the premium those cars will go for. It's the same engine you can get on a normal Avalon.

You are an idiot who doesn't have the least understanding of a vehicle if you believe this is true. 300 HP in a mid sized car FWD is PLENTY, you start pushing much more power than that and you are going to being negating it by simple virtue of torgue steer.

And as far as the automatic transmission goes , they will almost certainly have manual shifting capability, and even in full auto mode will be far superior to getting everything out of those 300 HP than you would be with a manual transmission. Electronics in modern cars are amazing.

As a point of reference the 2018 Camry V6 did 0-60 in 5.8 Seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.3 Seconds, those are VERY fast times for a mid sized factory FWD car.

And the TRD versions will be faster still.

Just as a benchmark I chose a very fast car. the 2017 Porsche 911 non Turbo with a manual transmission. THe BEST time a professional driver could get 0-60? 4.0 Seconds flat.

Hmmmm that "wimpy" 300 HP FWD mid sized family car with the automatic transmission isn't THAT much slower than a full on manual transmission non turbo 911.

Because only an idiot believes more than 300 HP is a MUST in a car for good performance.

No manual and no turbos is a hard pass.

Ya, for a standard mid sized family car. Not a "performance" version.

Which is you don't make a "performance" car with FWD. You stick to RWD or AWD.

And how will the TRD versions be faster if they're using the same exact motor as on the non-TRD cars? I didn't see a single mention of any tuning to the V6 from what's in the base Avalon. Which is my entire point that you can't seem to grasp.

You don't think 2.8 seconds is a rather large gap for a 0-60? And if you're running a Porsche, you're running a DCT.

It is for a boutique racing division. Look at the difference between stock Audi, BMW, and Mercedes and their S/RS, M, and AMG divisions.

Toyota is half-assing it with these cars. Mainly because they don't want to compete with the higher-end Lexus performance models.

Which is fine if you want a "performance" car that doesn't actually include any additional performance but hey, at least you'll look cool!

Torque steer only applies to FWD cars. It’s silly to have a true performance line but only offer FWD on those cars. Like someone else mentioned, they’re kind of half assing this bc it could get costly for them if they really wanna compete with the Lexus, Audi, Benz, and BMW. Just look at the upcoming Supra, it’s a joint venture with BMW bc they already have inline 6 platform and Toyota was gonna pay a fortune to develop it on their own.

We've had 3 Avalons. Love the quiet, smooth ride.

I don't want performance suspension (less smooth) or "cat-back dual exhaust" (louder) in my old man sedan.

They tried sporting up the Avalon suspension a few years ago to appeal to younger buyers. Young people don't want an Avalon no matter the ride, and the roughness pissed off the old folks who did want one.
