I think most of us who disagreed with the initial lockdown saw the writing on the wall; that there was no way they would drag this shite out for only two weeks.

Wow. I honestly am at loss for words. I have no clue how anyone can defend her. I couldn’t be any more against this type of action. For the record, I don’t drink and had no plans to go to Mardi Gras. It’s the complete and utter stupidity and disregard for freedom and allowing people to make their own decisions that I’m so absolutely against.

Disgusting. Disgusting. Disgusting.

There were very few people, very few, who opposed them from the beginning on here and they were usually downvoted to oblivion.

Were you one of those few?

I'll raise my hand. I was opposed from the very beginning, though I understood why leaders wanted to institute a 2 - 4 week pause to get a firmer grasp at what really was coming at them. Having said that, I was - and still am - supportive of mask mandates.

Anyone who has supported broadly interventionist methods since, say, May is a clinical moron and should have his or her voting rights revoked.

I wonder if there is anyone on here who ardently supported lockdowns in early- or mid-2020 who has completely reversed course.

In a way...the service industry is tough....especially when you work till 2am and then have to get up the next day for another double....you dont think some of these service industry people arent milking this shite?

They are staying home..collecting a check, sleeping late, going to sleep early...hanging out with their friends...

I'm sure there are some that would rather be working but to say some arent enjoying this would be naive.

He’s not. In the first round of shutdowns my husband had to let go a lot of the workers go at the restaurant - he was working at least 12 hours, 6 days a week. It was hard to get most of them to come back to work. The first week the inside was back open, everyone complained about the long hours and that they had to be on their feet again.

One of the dishwashers keeps coming up with a positive test result whenever his quarantine time is up. I swear he’s had Covid like 6 times. Washing dishes sucks, don’t get me wrong - but when you can stay at home - not get fired and collect a paycheck - that’s even better

So...a city whose only real reason for existing at this point is as a tourist attraction, has a mayor that is seemingly hellbent on taking away the very things which draw tourists in?

Awesome.

There is no indication that this is true. At best, it's an assumption based on your hope.
