Putting in my request for an explanation - doesn't have to be now - about why we have all these discrete cells all of a sudden, which definetly does not appear normal for S LA.
Like... what's different this time?

I have never seen this many discrete cells and significant tornadoes in regions like New Iberia I don’t think ever. You’d think we were as far inland as like Tupelo or Nashville with what I’m seeing

Pre-frontal confluence bands ahead of the main front providing forcing, along with just enough cap to keep a true line from forming. Storm motion relative to upper level winds has allowed the storms to make the most of ample shear.
That's just a quick breakdown.
The HRRR absolutely nailed this system.

Heat and humidity the last few days have made the atmosphere very ripe for storm formation (increased CAPE). The front moving through is the mechanism needed to tap into that energy and get these really nasty cells firing off.

Fox 8, possible tornado close to global wildlife in Folsom.
