I don’t see how that’s tricky? They had a big walk in closet that had an exterior wall, they added a square “room” to the exterior wall of that closet making 3 of the walls exterior
It is quite the bizarre decision I’ll give you that lol

wait... so they made you a "tornado safe room" above ground but put it where 3 of the 4 walls are external to the building
that doesn't seem wise... or very "tornado safe"
You can build a safe room shelter in the middle of a cow pasture and it will be fine. The anchoring system, the reinforced walls, and the heavy as hell door with locking system makes it legit. They are being built everywhere now. Some are inside houses or garages. I've seen pics of houses demolished, but safe rooms standing tall without a scratch in them.

Does it really matter where in the house it is if the room is truly tornado safe? Even if you put the tornado room in the middle of the house, its walls are likely to become exterior walls if you really need it.

I have not seen anything yet other than the one Tornado watch that was issued for NW GA so far. I would keep your eyes on what is posted though with the way things can change.

my reaction was solely based off of his description of the room

Mississippi debris falling in Alabama.

Do you mean FEMA code or more like local government code? Bc we don’t have one bit of building code out in these sticks
FEMA code. I have complete plans floating around the house somewhere. They are very specific, and oriented to "in-home" build or "free standing".
Yeah, we are in the county, too and building codes are nonexistent for the most part.

Not that you are saying different but the door on mind is just a big heavy metal door with a deadbolt lock
Of course When you open it it’s not like it opens to the outdoors or anything but it’s certainly not real special

You may end up being right most of the time but if I was building a house I’d still feel better putting in on the interior

Yeah, I figured that out. After I hit submit.

This is patently false.
We are talking over 5 years ago when I did the bulk of my looking, but where did I make a claim that's "patently false"?
After stating that I've seen EF4 damage within minutes after it passed, the key phrase is I "can't imagine." You do understand that the phrase, "I can't imagine" doesn't equate to making a fact-based claim, don't you?
And I still can't imagine how anything above ground could survive a level higher damage than that.
God you are idiot. Aren't the aggot who got caught lying about your private jet? Go fly it into one of these storms, aggot.

Yeah, the plans I have call for a certain door. In fact, it won't pass inspection without the correct door. My neighbor mentioned the cost of the door, but I don't remember what it was.
