I wouldn't have married someone whose family I didn't get along with. My FIL is awesome.

He's probably just pissed that you're fricking his daughter.

You should mount her in front of him to establish dominance.

That sound fricking miserable. My FIL used to have an awful relationship before I proposed... he would always hated that I wasn't southern baptist and didn't go to church. He would openly make comments about how his daughter needed to find someone more like them right infront of me. But when I propsed he totally 180ed.... we're close as hell now, he invites me shooting on his land all the time, makes a genuine effort to talk about sports etc. Guess he just wanted me to make an honest woman out of her

My FIL is legit insane (ex: He is a flat earther and a YEC).

But we get along well enough when I do see him. When he brings up his insane conspiracy theories, I just smile and nod and quickly change the subject.

You’re trying too hard. Nothing you do or say will make him warm up to you.

My father in law is the man.

Worked as engineer for NASA and was in the room IRL for the famous scene from Apollo 13 where they try to fix the shuttle (it was nothing like the movie obvi, but still cool). Also helped design the Saturn V, for which he gave me some original blue prints he hand drew back then.

He also loves to drink good scotch and sit on his dock and fish, while listening to good music. So every time I'm at my in-laws, that's what we do for days on end, while my mother-in-law cooks feast after feast inside. It's fantastic.

Again, he's the damn man.

I loved and miss my FIL. His daughter and I have been divorced over 30 years. If I hear a tape of him singing and playing music I cry like a baby.

Just pulling up examples dude. I don’t even correct anymore. He can believe that if he wants too. I guess I could have used some from this week but you still get the point.

Nope. In many ways I am closer to my father-in-law than I was to my own dad. Great guy.

My mother-in-law is also awesome. I really hit the jackpot with in-laws, and don't take it for granted at all. Most of my friends hate their in-laws.

Same.

Mine aren't super rich like some of my friends' in-laws, but they are just top notch people and we love each other genuinely.

My FIL cool (lives in Gabon)... my mother in law on the other hand is the devil... her husband actually left the country to get away from her... my wife doesn't get along with her... she knows everything without knowing nothing ... she actually thinks France was the hero in WW2... completely insane
