As someone who owns a 16 Colorado all I'll say is the OP should listen to the people who actually own a Colorado/canyon or a 16 Taco. Toyota blew the infotainment system by sticking with their own proprietary crap. The upcharge for the badge on the front isn't worth it anymore IMO with GMs new additions to the class. And if the twins don't have issues and aren't being sold/traded in, resale value will be just fine.

Mind me asking what you like/dislike about the Colorado? What trim did you get and at what price? I'm really going back and forth.

I just bought a 2017 Colorado 3 weeks ago. Zero issues, love it so far. I got the V6. Only thing is MPG sucks. I don't have to travel far for work. First tank I got a whopping 14.7mpg. Not sure how it will do on the interstate, I haven't taken it out of town yet. I like the wifi and the hidden radio controls underneath the steering wheel. Coming from a sports car. Biggest addition is the visibility and my kids seem to like it much more.
When people ask how I like it I always have the same answer. "It's a truck. It gets me from A to B without issue. Really not much more to say."

Agree. I love my Colorado. People going on an on about Tacoma resale value haven't given the Colorado a fair opportunity on the market to see how well the resale value is. 2nd generation has only been out since 2015.

While I love the TRD Pro, it is absurdly priced for still being a midsize truck.
To OP, I have the 2016 SR5, 4 door, 4x4, V6. Touch screen, xm/sirius, alloy wheels and towing package (7,500 pound capacity). No leather and not available with this package, but I don't care for leather personally. I get 20-22mpg all around. Purchased August 1 and about to turn 23,000 miles. No issues at all. I bought this thing for a hair under 32k. I couldn't get a GM within 2.5k of that price with same amenities, and I personally don't care for the look of the Colorado or Canyon.
I don't think any of them are bad vehicles. I don't care to give GM my money, and Toyota offered a product that fit me much better.

Not sure where you were shopping. I got a Canyon all terrain which is 4x4 with leather, bose stereo, tow package, heated seats, every option besides lane departure warning for 36.5 with 0% for 72. They also threw in a linex liner before I picked it up

Sounds about right. Bose is better than my entune stereo, but I'd never use heated seats because I never did in my prior vehicle. For me, the better stereo and those little gadgets don't add up to nearly 5k.

3 whole weeks without an issue? Is this the measuring stick for GM these days?

I have personally taken in 2 2016 colorados on trade, and we have had other 2015/2016 colorado/canyons come thru here, so seems like 2016 colorado/canyon did something(s) wrong to not keep recent owners (one of my customers stated that he keeps trucks for 15+ years and just did impulse buy on colorado, but knows he will get 15+ years out of tacoma)

One of my best friends recently bought a Canyon and he seems to be really happy with it.

The manual transmission in the Tacoma is nice. Not sure I'd trust a Chevy manual.

glad this thread is up. I am thinking about trading in my 2011 tahoe for a midsize truck
Dealership keeps calling me wanting me to come trade my SUV in.
I just bought my SO a new SUV so I think I need a truck. I have only owned SUVs my whole life beside an Infinti g35 for a few years.

Tacoma tacoma tacoma. Resale Resale Resale.
Nothings close. That Chevy will be shite in 60 months and that tacoma will be worth damn near 70% of what you paid for it

Cult-taco is great for resale.
Similar to apple computer pricing. I saw an apple logo on the rear window of my (hot, no pics) trainer. Better than tattoo.

Pretty much no need for full size truck.
I assume this would describe the majority of full-size truck owners.
