Super weird how people here are frothing at the mouth to find out this woman’s name. Can’t wait to support those troops even harder right?

Sorry, I’m looking at it from a pilot perspective. Life is easy for us when we’re on center. I have no doubt it’s still high stress for controllers

That portion of the route is 200 feet and below for helos. Looks like the helo might have been operating above that altitude.

Some reports saying it was at 300’ and some at 400’.

Either way, my backyard is wider than 200’. Even if it was flying at the absolute correct altitude, the two aircraft would have been separated by the distance of a couple of garden hoses.

The “it was intentional” crowd is asking the wrong questions.

There are no less than 100 better targets in Washington DC to crash your helicopter into if that’s your jam.

We need to know who was on the plane that was crashed into.

I am not sure about any wake turbulence effect, but separated by 100’ to 200’ gives the plane a better chance than a direct hit.

Many of the ones i read were about a possible suicide by the pilot not that the plane was a specific target but more an opportunistic choice made by the pilot.

I still think it was a just a major screw up by the helicopter pilot.

I am definitely on the fence about this but I think I'm leaning this way as well. This wasn't a collision with a building or a crash landing that killed the crewmen aboard the chopper. This was a mid-air collision with a civilian passenger jet that killed dozens of people. The public has a right to know who was piloting the helicopter that collided with the unsuspecting jetliner.

Agreed.

And this is looking like either a major frick up by that person or a possible Germanwings scenario too. They are releasing names of the passengers on the jet. Release the name of the pilot that caused this.

I have a difficult time accepting this possibility. There is no cockpit door to lock a copilot out. The person sitting in the left seat could have just grabbed the controls of the helo.

Also do you think the people in plane were all killed instantly?

No. Some were, probably. The ones who took the brunt of the impact or had the rotor cut them. But the rest probably survived until impact with the water. And maybe some drowned. Just guessing here.

Only if someone screwed up. That is one dimension you are discussing. The system is supposed to maintain separation in the other two dimensions. That 200’ you are talking about is the final safety net, only.

Nah. Imagine jumping off of a 300’ building at 150mph and the likelihood of survival. Thankfully everyone would have died from BFT on impact.

A VFR aircraft flew into another aircraft. That’s enough to assign blame.

People aren't frothing at the mouth. This is a reaction to every other incident/crime where a person's name isn't instantly released. It's ALWAYS because they need to spin the story.

I'm not saying that's true in this case, but it has been days now. You can't fault people for being skeptical.

That rotor isn’t cutting the plane in half. It would shatter before that happened.
