Man, I know this is the OT but 25 yard headshots with a pistol ain’t easy, 25 feet sure, I’d agree with that… maybe you put 1000s of rounds on paper so maybe you’re real good, but most even moderate shooters aren’t making 25 yard headshots with a pistol easily.

As far as a 130 yard rifle shot, a civilian can do it… but depending on any training, being able to control breathing, trigger squeeze, follow through in a massive stressful situation … a large percentage of civilians would be hard pressed to make that shot.

That is a moderately difficult shot for simply your average hunter

Most head shots end up in wounded unrecovered deer than not. That’s not even taking into the account of shooting at a person vs shooting at a deer

Definitely in no way is it an easy shot for your average hunter.

Never mind the fact taking this shot against a former president. I’m surprised the kid hit him at all.

And it sounds like there was a commotion by the building once people realized he was up there. The guy (with the red visor and orange hair) in the BBC interview made it sound like they were all yelling to the police that the shooter was there. If true, it likely spooked him.

This mf'r says something like that and then in his statement yesterday has the nerve to call DJT Donald 3x's like they are best friends now. It's a small detail but it really stood out to me.

Merit and execution must be the only deciding factors in hiring and leadership, not the social engineering priority of the day. Sadly nothing in Washington reflects that any longer.

Amen. I’d be extra pissed as the family of the poor innocents killed and gravely injured, this should have been easily stopped.

* These are unconfirmed pics but have been posted as possible vantage point from the sniper team that made the kill shot

130 yds with a rifle is NOTHING. Any decent hunter or anyone with a tiny amount of training could hit a shot like that.

"could" is doing a lot of work here

a lot of decent hunters or people with a little bit of training *would* miss

That's a different rifle than the one that's been pictured with the 2 other snipers.

I've seen some stuff posted that they couldn't see him because a tree was blocking their view.

Guess we'll have to wait for that info to come out.

Correct. The only person that would be an easy shot for is a trained shooter or a tactical shooter. Would be extremely easy for them.

Nobody else is that easy for

This view and distance would match up with what Erik posted as being close to 500 yds

Based on stills from the TMZ video (which show him in position and aiming). It’s not the clearest pic but it doesn’t look like he has any optics on the rifle

That’s actually pretty damn hard

ETA:

And I shoot at similar range a good bit with my handgun.

There is some noise going on that had the assault weapons ban been in place, the shooter would not have had this rifle.

Can some of you marksmen comment on that? My feeling is that had he used a non-“assault weapon style” rifle, he would have been more accurate.

...it ain't hard either.

I believe a certain poster still owes me a hundred bucks for showing it's perfectly possible to hit a silhouette at 220 yards with a box stock glock.

Quite a few OB posters had to eat crow on that one
