I know this topic comes up every so often.
I saw a Peter Max original on FB Marketplace this morning, the lady is asking $4800. It got me thinking about people’s collections.
What do you collect (I know many will say guns), or what piece of art do you own?
I use to own the original panoramic photograph of the first game in Tiger Stadium. I sold it to another LSU collector in BR.
Most here may remember the piece of artwork I found a couple years ago at an antique store in Denham Springs. I paid $125, valued at $7500+.
It now overlooks my bar

Nothing right now. I did collect coins as a kid.

The $7,500 value might include the bar.

The studio in California that carries his stuff (basically his studio)

Used to collect guns. Gave them all to my SIL to hold for my grandson. Daughter told me and SIL if SIL brings one more gun in their house, she is going to kick his arse.

No, that’s what they said they would have on it if they were selling it. Like I said, it’s basically his studio. I believe his daughter runs it.
I did message him and he did tell me he painted this back in the early days of when he started painting “The Hawk”, around 1975. He said he doesn’t even remember why he named the painting what he did. (I forget the name, I got it written down somewhere. It’s on back of the painting)

Putting a value on art is hard to do. Like anything else, it is only worth what someone is actually willing to pay for it. The main thing is do you like and enjoy it? That is all that matters.

I have quite a collection of Christopher Radko ornaments. My family has a large number of local and regional artists and a few national artists. My favorite two New Orleans artists are John McCrady and Lin Emery. We have several of each.

Books. Have a few full sets of books of Charles Dickens work... one from 1868 and another set from 1875.
Have all kinds of literary works from the late 1700s on up.
Encyclopedias and dictionaries the early 1700s to early 1800s.
Have an autographed copy of Bob Hope's book "Confessions of a Hooker". It's funny stuff about him golfing with pros and other celebrities.
Have an autographed copy of "The Bear"... yep... Bear Bryant.
