Another faux pas that I see a lot amongst high schoolers my kids' age is wearing a dress shirt with a tie, sans the jacket. If an occasion is dressy enough for a tie, one needs to wear a jacket too.

Meh. This isn't a big dea

its not a big deal if you are in high school.

looks terrible on an adult

It's not really a faux pas, I'll just say that IMO ideal uses for black suits or black dress shoes are extremely limited.

Some are confusing faux pas with clothing they don't like

I don't like a flat bill style of cap, but it is t a faux pas. It is just as fitting as other caps when it is time to wear a cap

Both of these are starting to get waaaaay out of control and make people look like they're wearing Ronald McDonald suit.

Creased jeans

Almost all my jeans are heavy starched at the cleaners with creases down the front. Hell, most are faded in the crease. All my long sleeve shirts are starched the same way.

Agreed on ties. For beginners, a half-windsor looks great and is easy to perfect with a little practice.

Shoes should match belt

Socks should match dress pants.

Nothing looks as goofy as seeing a man sitting down with khaki colored pants and black socks.

They're cowboy boots, dumbass.

Cowboy boots are only acceptable on kids under the age of 8, and when worn on Halloween.

Just curious what knot you use if you think a Half Windsor is "for beginners."
