Dandy Lion what's wrong with those boots? Just a classic reg toe boot. I've been buying that same pair of shite kickers over and over for yrs now.

I've seen this most often with women or gay dudes. I'm not sure why being gay means you get to wear a medium when you should be wearing a large.

Some of you people are figs.

Pleated dress pants never go out style.

someone leaving a button buttoned up is that big of a faux paus
It seems petty, but it's a sure sign that you aren't used to wearing a suit. Always leave the bottom button unbuttoned. My dad is horrible with that.

Worse if it's the bottom button of a vest...
Crewneck t-shirts w/ polo shirts.

Wall Street Journal: Pleated Pants for Men: They’re Back, Guys
Esquire agrees
Plus, by the time they become widely accepted here, they'll be out of fashion yet again in CA and NY.
Esquire agrees

For the past 15 years, it's been flat front or nothing in men's fashion circles, but just recently designers have begun experimenting with single and very discreet pleats on what are still relatively narrow pants. They do this to give slightly more volume in the upper leg but leave the lower leg and ankle narrow.
But this is a new evolution, so that means you cannot dig out a pair of multiple-pleat loon pants you last wore in 1989 and call yourself a hipster.

Well that's why. I own three suits. A Blue a black and a grey. I rarely wear them unless for funerals, weddings and fancy day on a cruise.
I wear sport coats a lot though.

You shouldn't button the bottom button of those either.

For the record, what is the "correct" tie length? I aim to just cover my belt buckle.

This, and too long is just as bad as too short.
Another faux pas that I see a lot amongst high schoolers my kids' age is wearing a dress shirt with a tie, sans the jacket. If an occasion is dressy enough for a tie, one needs to wear a jacket too. Can wear the jacket with or without the tie, but not the tie without the jacket.
Posted on 12/13/15 at 3:13 pm to Napoleon
it's actually something I knew of, though now I have someone who has veto power over my wardrobe choices anyway.

Meh. This isn't a big deal

JJB, I live in the city. To me, cowboy boots look out of sorts in the city.

Naturalists don't have these kinds of issues.

Buttoning both buttons of a two-button suit jacket, sport coat or blazer
My boss is a great guy, but he's a terrible dresser. All of his suits are three-button suits and he only buttons the bottom two. It drives me insane, looks awful with the top all sorts billowing out.
I also think the button down collars should be 100% done away with. They always look terrible, too narrow, and very untidy IMO. The rigid, non button down collars look 1000% times better. We finally got my pops to stop wearing the old school ones recently, and it looks so much better.
Some other faux pas I see (or overall criticisms given I work around a lot of engineers and technical people):
Take a little bit of pride in your shoes. Got people walking around a corporate office in what look to be Nike air dress shoes with 1" soles. It looks awful. Lose weight so your feet can handle normal shoes instead of walking on an inch of padding.
No logo's on your business attire unless it's an inch or less. I see people walking around the office with sweaters in the winter that have large print and huge logos. I don't think it looks professional.
