Live in Ponchatoula and drive to Hammond. Only a couple of miles but easier to find a nice affordable neighborhood. Any where outside Hammond is better. You have to know where the good and bad neighborhoods are.

The coeds are loose and plentiful. Lots of chlamydia though so bring your jimmy wraps.

I just transferred to Hammond with my company, Got a place in a nice neighborhood in Ponchatoula. I really enjoy it, but i'm also easy to please.

Ristorante Foodie is damn good in downtown Ponchatoula.

We're talking about the same interstate system that is a daily topic of OT entertainment, right?

Hammond is like the golden zone where 12 miraculously doesn't turn into a shithole. If you have to go to Mandeville or BR on 12, good luck.

Hammond really isn’t THAT bad. You have some pretty good restaurants down town and you have Gnarly Barly if you enjoy craft beer. It’s pretty much half way between BR and NOLA and it’s safe. Congrats on the job man.

You don’t recall if you were ever shot? Seems a point to remember to me.

It’s not like you’re moving to Lake Charles.

Mariner's Inn.

Jim and Dave's Kickin' Chicken on French Bread, a steaming bowl of crab & artichoke soup as an app.

You're welcome.

Don't bother with Hammond. Live in the Mandeville, Madisonville, Covington area. It has excellent restaurants, a low crime community and not far from the Biloxi Marsh for fishing.

If the universe gives you an opportunity to go somewhere else, take it. We get one shot at this life. One chance to leave our mark. Many men before us lived and died walking the same stones. But there are more stones to walk. Travel, get away from what you know when you are young. See this bounty of a world we don’t really know of. Let this step take you to the next step to the next step until one day you find yourself in a foreign land and the call of home sings out like a siren song. Then go back. Go back with a wealth of experiences under your belt and hopefully an adventures worth of coin in your pocket. Or else you’ll get old. The chances for wanderlust will pass you by. And you might raise something in the ancestral soil but you’ll forever be haunted by that faint glimmer of what might have been. So start your journey while you have the chance because it’s gone in the blink of an eye,

THIS IS VERY GOOD ADVICE

Lighten up francis, it was a joke. Hammond is actually not a bad place to live if you don't want to live in a major city and still want to have nightlife.
To the OP,
Restaurants: Tommy's on Thomas (pizza, Wed. and Sun. half price pitchers), Mariner's Inn (has pool tables and the food is better than you'd think), Our Mom's (great burgers), Blackened Brew (great tap selection)
Nearby Breweries: Gnarly Barley, Low Road, Abita, Chafunkta
Special shout-out to the Red, White and Brew, a specialty beer and wine store that has a bar where you can drink what you buy in the store. Probably my favorite joint in Hammond.

Get in touch with a Wongs and rent one of their places in downtown Hammond. Walk to Cate St Seafoodx Red White and Brew, Mariners, Brady’s, Tommy’s and the other newer spots.

Shop and pick up women in Mandeville.

Fish Pearl River.

Party in NO.

Avoid BR.

Saying that you live on the Northshore while residing in Hammond, is like saying you live in Uptown, all while living in Arabi or Meraux.

There's also Low Road Brewery which is on CM Fagan is up and coming. Not on the level that Gnarly Barley has but it's getting there. Their brews aren't bad at all, I'll hit them up and get a couple growlers filled every so often.

We did our last FF draft at Low Road - I was impressed. Need to go back - they've got a Wings and Beer Fest they're running in a few weekends.
