No you haven't.
You didn't become a Catholic until you completed Cateschism.
Plus that doesn't mean you believe in God.

One thing I’ve noticed is that non-Catholics sure like to get worked up over the dietary habits of Catholics.
Catholics become humbled during lent. Non-Catholics become envious.

Why is that? By giving up something I enjoy for 40 days to focus on the sacrifice Jesus made for me? It seems like a pretty good Reminder for myself since the first thing I do in the morning is take a shower.

Why take a shower at all, then?

For the sake of my co-workers.

The point is to make a small personal sacrafice.
It isn’t to grandstand.

I am Catholic, but not particularly devout, but I do give up meat for Lent. No one generally knows I do it. While I enjoy seafood, I generally do find it to be a bit of extra trouble to limit my food so drastically on Fridays, so I consider it somewhat of a sacrifice.

I'm not Catholic, but as you can imagine most of my friends from LSU are. Statements like that are what make people resent Catholics. You are not holier than thou for having a crawfish boil on Fridays instead of your regular burger from Wendy's.

False. Meat is defined for Catholics as living on land.
Actually, it's defined as any warm-blooded animal. So, you can't eat seal, whale, orca, or porpoise.
But you could eat snake, turtle, gator, frog legs, or even Komodo dragon.

Why are you upset over my lack of toppings on a pizza?
You sound envious.

Do you participate in Lent and/or no meat on Fridays
That’s just silly. Anyone who does this is dumb.

No, you should not live in such an prosperous country and economic system and give things up. You should want everything you can get out of life.

I said in the OP I have done Lent before and will probably do meatless Friday's as it's good practice for any Christian. I'm not upset, I'm just telling you that your attitude can breed resentment. It sure doesn't help bring anyone to your faith.

I will because I AM catholic.
Some of you are a little off in that you seem to think that abstaining from eating meat on Friday is "giving something up". I don't think of it as that; the fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and giving up something in general are better examples of that. It's more of a remembrance thing; every time you eat a meal on Fridays you remember not to eat meat, and then you remember WHY you are not eating meat, keeping Christ in your mind.

I’m giving up booze, which means I’ve gotten blackout drunk tonight.
