Has anybody here tried these out? $30.00 for one pair of underwear is expensive. Is it worth the money?

Are the Tommy John's named after the pitcher and/or the surgery...or both...

Ex Officio is the official underwear of the OT so you should probably delete this thread before the admins find out

I stopped wearing underwear after 9/11. Life is too short.

It matters what you are using them for. Backpacking or hiking? You're damn right they are worth it, I almost exclusively hike in exofficios. Normal wear? The Russell Athletic Actives are great.

Tommy John has good over the calf socks.

Their underwear is really nothing special. Plus I switched back to boxers.

I just got back from Big Bend with the wifey. I'll look into these for our future hiking exercisions. They might be worth it to me then.

Saxx are incredible. The "pouch" is where it's at. Not sure if the others have that.

Haven't tried Tommy John. Can't comment.

Saxx are extremely comfortable. They have panels that separate giblets from thigh. No adjustment required - all day. I have thick thighs and they tend to ride up.

2UNDR offer a pocket that also provides the "no adjustment" experience. They also offer 9" legs that do not ride up. If you are doing a lot of walking - like hiking - the 2UNDR can chafe a little at the bottom of the pocket. But for short activity they are the most comfortable. They are similar to compression shorts, but not as highly compressive. Just make sure to order the ones with a fly if you want one.

Ex Officio: I tried these. I can understand why people who have never tried SAXX, David Archy, 2UNDR, Obviously or even UA Boxerjocks would like these (i.e. because they just don't know any better). They are comfortable. But they tend to stretch out over the course of a day (God forbid you have a 18 hour flight and have to wear them for 36 hours with a lot of walking) and they are expensive for what you get, i.e., no pocket. All in all, I prefer the BCG underwear from Academy for 1/2 the price of the Ex Officio and without the stretching out. But, I am slowly converting to all 2UNDR.

So, if riding up is not an issue for you, I would rank the above as follows:

Saxx
2UNDR (but best to avoid riding up)
David Archy
Obviously (but no fly)
UA Boxerjock (best for active sports)
BCG

Ex Officio (worst value out of all of these)

I'm not terribly impressed with Ex Officio either. I bought two pairs and they're okay, except one started pilling really bad with very little wear. I prefer the Adidas Climalite, and they're cheaper.

I have 3 or 4 pairs of Saxx underwear. Most comfortable set of cloth I have ever put on.

I own about 7 or 8 pairs of Exofficio. 2nd best set of drawers I own.

Both are expensive and well worth the price I paid.

I've got some saxx. Very nice. It's like the boys have their own room to hang out in
