?A cemetery in Long Island was the site of tragedy when a worker was buried while in a grave on Thursday.

(Gray News) - A New York cemetery worker was buried alive Thursday morning while working inside a grave.
Rodwin Allicock, 42, of Coram, was leveling out the bottom of a 7-foot-deep grave at Washington Memorial Park in Mount Sinai when the sides collapsed, burying him, WABC reported.
His co-workers’ attempts to dig him out were unsuccessful, and despite the rescue efforts of first responders from several agencies, Allicock was pronounced dead at the scene.

Did they just leave him and have a service that evening?

How long does it take to dig a 6 foot person out of a 7 foot grave?

It's nearly impossible to dig someone out of dirt like that. 1 cubic foot of dirt weighs roughly 60 pounds. It doesn't take much to squish a person.

Every time you move, dirt collapses in around you. Suffocate because your chest can't expand. shite gets real tricky real fast if you don't have enough hands to pull you out.

That's tragic, but are they really digging 7' graves without any kind of trench safety?

Saw a Bear Grylls thing on this

Basically if you're about to get covered in dirt or whatever, you need to make a cage as best as you can with your arms around your chest and face to give yourself breathing ability.

I think Bear used his shirt as like a canopy.

Regardless it's bullshite and he would've died in real life

Trench collapse is a horrific way to die, becaause you are fully aware that it is happening....and any potential rescuers typically pull you in half. Every state has a couple of accidents of this type every year and simple trenching and shoring practices could prevent every one.
