I don't dismiss them at all just try to be respectful and sometimes forget. I don't list mine though on social or email. I'm in cybersecurity which attracts more creative types and there are a lot of interesting characters. I spent over 20 years in more traditional infrastructure tech and that was way more conservative. We live in interesting times so I just try to roll with it.

I think of pronouns in the same way I think of channel markers. Both serve to help me navigate my way through the shallows.

If it’s a dude I just assume they are gay. If it’s a chick I assume they have HR on speed dial. In both cases I consider them weak minded followers that I want absolutely nothing to do with.

It took every ounce of self-restraint I have gathered over 5 decades to not make fun of this straight lawyer/somewhat family man who was cocounsel with me in a matter a couple of years ago. Pronouns in email signature block. Prestigious Philly/DE firm. Even his female associate didn’t have them in hers.
I was waiting for a little moment to drop it in. I did with our client “well he f’ed up that motion, but at least we know his pronouns.” Next time I’m just doing it because my fellow man deserves to have these people ridiculed.
Then we mediated with a former BK judge who had purple hair.
Im like, “Ok, that’s it; I’m out.” I’ll stick to my redneck MAGA enclave where the baws think I’m a liberal if I’m not actually driving my f250.
